    Hi Guys,
Im looking to buy 80m of 5mm climbing rope. Im based in Limerick and was quoted about 70euro for it from river deep mountain high which is fine, but they wont have it for ages.
So, where can i get it online.
Its very hard for me to find it on google and anything i find is 3 times the price of a bricks and mortar? WTF? lol

    Any help
    Thanks
    John

btw - its not for climbing, i just need a very fine, but very strong smooth rope, so any idea's at all appreciated...

You should be able to get 5mm cord from any of the following:

    http://www.barrabes.com
    http://www.rockrun.com

or even try ebay, I recently got 30m of tape for a slackline for next to nothing.. Alternatively you could try sailing shops and sites if it's not for climbing purposes.

You could also look into paracord?

I don't know much about it, but I've heard good things. A friend of mine has a bracelet made out of like 15m of it, and could be used as a rescue tool for emergency survival situations. I get the impression its strength vs weight/bulk ratio might be very high, but I'm not sure exactly how it compares to typical nylon climbing cord of similar thickness and weight.
