Help with setting up Humax system

    Hey,

I have done some research but need a lot more help.Decided against Sky+ in favour of Freesat.
I need a system in one room only and the basic BBC,ITV,C4 channels plus others will suffice.I am not overly keen on HD. RTE,TV3,TG4 are already supplied through the now disbanded south coast community tv ariel, hence the panic!

Heard a lot about the Humax Freesat HDR PVR and the pause, recording function is a bonus.

    1. What else do I need (sat, cable, etc)and where is best option to source them cheaply (ebay, adverts, online, etc)?

    2. Can I DIY install them without major hassle as Im getting no reply from Satquip or Signal Solutions(im based in west cork)? I would gladly let any technician install them but dont know where to look for one or even if they would install this gear.

    thanks

DIY is possible depending on you DIY skills and patience.

    You need
Quad LNBF for Ku (i.e. Universal Quad)
At least four F - connectors
Triax 60cm solid dish in most of Ireland, but I recommend an Triax 80cm for West Cork*.
TX100 or PF100 satellite coax cable. Two runs with no breaks from dish to set box and enough for two spare runs if Dish is not easily accessible.

    *Three reasons
The 60cm to 65cm suits most of Ireland but non-2D beams are much weaker, more rain and finally DTT may be poor in much of West cork and the Triax 80cm solid dish can probably be used for Saorsat also with an adaptor bar and some other parts. No extra cables.
