I have being called for a second interview next week... I have been informed that this interview is going to focus on my quantitative and analytical skills.

Over the summer my brother and I were putting together a spreadsheet for horseracing so we could analyse various aspects of the results and do a bit of IF analysis. We quickly found that you would lose your bollocks if you commited any money to the testing the theories we came up with. How and ever, from doing this I learnt more about analyisis such as IF functions.

I have working experience of using Vlookup and pivot tables, etc. but what I want to know, would it be inappropriate to use the horse racing example in an interview, bearing in mind that. 1. I learnt from this excercise and 2. I Pondered how I can apply this to future work related problems. and finally 3. better doing this than nothing!

I don't see how this would be a bad thing, you have used your own initiave to learn more on your own time. That surely, can only be viewed as a good thing in the eyes of the prospective emloyer
