The Woods: The exhibition at Istabraq Hall is a selection of works from the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing and artists from the Creative Limerick initiative. Works by David Godbold, Patrick Hall, Seamus Heaney, Alan Keane, Paraic Leahy, Alice Maher, Eoin McHugh, Laura McMorrow, Clive Moloney, Mary Moloney and Garrett Phelan are included.

Musical performance by Karl Burke at Istabraq Hall, City Hall, Merchant’s Quay
His music can be described as acoustic, ambient electronic. Karl Burke is an interdisciplinary artist and musician whose practice includes sculpture, sound, installation, photography and film. Exhibiting both nationally and internationally, his work is concerned with our relationship to, and perceptions of, the three dimensional world. It endeavors to form a physical and emotive relationship between the art, the place and the viewer.

As part of the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s Community Engagement Programme, ICO Education Officer, Kathleen Turner works with many groups of all ages and abilities citywide. The emphasis on each project is to enable participants to realise their ability to make music.
In this ‘SINGular Sensation’ workshop, Kathleen invites children (4 – 8 years) and their parents to make music together in the easiest way possible – with their voices. Fun warm-ups, rhythm games, movement and songs from around the world help to make this singing session extremely accessible and enjoyable. No experience is necessary – only the desire to have a go and more importantly, to have fun.

Limerick’s award-winning museum traces the history of Limerick City from the Stone Age to the present day. The ground floor displays Limerick silver, lace, archaeological artifacts, objects relating to the struggle for Independence and much more. The first floor space has been given over to be used by Limerick City Gallery of Art while the Carnegie Building is closed for redevelopment, and currently houses a display of prints.
Walk the Walls of Limerick
Start at 5pm: Meet at King John’s Castle Visitor Centre
The walk will be led by Dan Tietzsch-Tyler a specialist in the area of archaeological and historical reconstruction drawing. The walk will take approximately 1.5 hours. There are thirteen extant stretches of the City Wall, which will be explored on the walk.

The Georgian House is one of a terrace of six houses building c.1830 by the Pery Tontine Company. It has been fully restored by the Limerick Civic Trust. Exuding the flavour of early 19th century living, the original marbled walls and period stairs link the grandeur of upstairs living with the plainness of the downstairs service areas. There are sixteen rooms on show.

Fresh Film Festival Sceening Award Winning Films for 2010
Fresh Film Festival will screen a selection of winning films from Ireland's Young Filmmaker Awards 2010. The programme will include films made by young filmmakers from both the Junior (7 - 12yrs) and Senior (13 - 18yrs) categories and will include an informal information sharing session where young people can find out more about the festival's activities and events. It will be a fun evening's entertainment suitable for a family audience. Young filmmakers are particularly welcome

King John’s Castle

King John’s Castle is one of Ireland’s best examples of a Norman Castle. When the castle was built between 1200 and 1210, its cutting edge design was ahead of its time. You can find out why in the visitor centre, where an exhibition details the castle’s history. Other attractions include a mock medieval courtyard, and the undercroft to the officers’ quarters, excavated in the 1990s. Walk the battlements to enjoy far reaching views of Limerick City

The new stadium has incorporated a spectacular interactive museum that showcases the proud history and heritage of Munster Rugby including an impressive range of memorabilia such as the match ball from the famous victory against the All Blacks in 1978 and the 2006 Heineken Cup trophy. The Museum also contains fantastic interactive displays and touch screens suitable for all ages with a specially commissioned film titled “We are Munster” that portrays the tradition & history of the club and the unique bond that it shares with its loyal supporters

Culture Night 2010 at Occupy Space will be a hive of activity; kids, teens and adults will learn the tricks of the trade to replicate masterpieces in a Creative Con-artist Workshop. Drop-in from 6.30-9pm where you will learn to cheat, fraud and forge your favourite art-work, receive your official Con-artist certificate and exhibit your piece in the gallery.
On Culture Night visit Yo llo mmot a dynamic exhibition by Californian artist Jim Ricks which re-creates a series of works by Tom Molloy. Through a replication process Ricks pays homage to Tom Molloy’s solo show Yo lo vi. These approximations made on a reduced budget, are based on Molloy's exhibition catalogue, and in this process of re-interpretation take on a new layer of meaning. The project focuses on art history, institutional critique, boundaries and ownership, but primarily it investigates the origins of creativity.
Chat with the artists who set-up Occupy Space and enjoy refreshments at Meet the Artists Social from 6-10pm. Occupy Space is an artist-led initiative, supported by Creative Limerick, which incorporates a dynamic gallery with a new experimental project space.

Raggle Taggle Consortium is a collective of recent graduates. RTC aim to create and facilitate a forum for artists, students and the public to critically evaluate art practice and production. The nine artists working in our studio are currently responding to the concept entitled 'Thank Heaven for Small Mercies'. This group show, comprising multidisciplinary work, will be open to the public and the artists will be available to meet and greet any visitors to the gallery.2

Turns out the Blasket Islands are doing their annual festival the same weekend, and I've been roped into going to that.
I hope it goes well anyway, and I'm sure there'll be the usual supply of photos here afterwards.0 -
