    Hey guys,

I am thinking of getting a coupe next. However i am not sure of which one to go for. I will be buying a used car and my budget is 15000 euros. I really liked the Mazda RX 8. However it has come to my attention that it is real petrol drinker and only has a mileage of about 5-7 kms per litre. I dont know much about cars but i want a pretty decent looking Coupe.

    Any suggestions?

Honda Integra DC5? You'd get a mighty one for €10k now this weather. Have a look on Donedeal....loads of them for sale there.

Hyundai Coupé. All of the looks, and none of the cost/hassle of a car with performance you don't want.

Or if you want a RWD turbo it has to be the Nissan Silvia S15. Best looking coupe/car by far IMO (in that price range of course).

You'd probably manage to get 30 mpg from it but you'd have to drive like a granny and all that!:D

I could be wrong, but I get the distinct impression that the OP does not want a RWD turbo.

Alfa GT's are gorgeous looking Coupes.

Hyundai Coupe's handle really nicely and you could probably get an almost new one for 15k. There is a 3 year old red one in a dealers on the long mile road with only 11k km's on it for 12.5 grand. Test drove it myself, it was fab! I think it's still there afaik.

    Audi TT
    Honda s2000
    Toyota Celica
    Mazda Mx5

The RX-8 eats through oil because of the Rotary engine and it would probably be as bad on petrol as similar cars.

I figure with all these cars, the petrol will depend on how you drive it.

I got a Celica a few weeks back and its much better on petrol than expected, although I drive quite sensibly. Or like a granny and all that:p

as an alfa GT driver I would say buy an alfa GT:D but then again I would say that.

if I hadnt bought the alfa i would have bought the RX8. Both coupes but have back seats if you ever need to bring a few people somewhere. RX8 has suicide doors which open backwards at the rear of the car which is cool to say the least.

But as you say they do drink the fuel as far as I know. Actually the one of the reasons I eventually went with the GT is that its a Diesel. But not slow. its 1.9JTD 150bhp. plenty fast let me tell ya.

I actually worked mine out last night, a bit under 1 litre per 1,500 miles which isn't all that bad.

Edit: Oh, and I'd highly recommend getting one. Stunning looking car that's fantastic fun to drive.

I saw an alfa GT today, I want one! They are amazing looking!

The Coupe is only suitable if the OP is buying the car based on looks alone, the Coupe aint known for its performance to be fair, and judging by the OP I presume he/she is looking for a bit of performance as they were considering an RX-8!

Yes, I know the Coupe is not known for it's poke (it goes a lot slower than it looks like it should!) but the low centre of gravity and the handling on corners etc is nice (In my humble opinion)

    I wanted something a bit nipper so I got an mx-5 :D

Edit: One thing I didn't like about the Coupe was the interior! A bit crap tbh!

OP says an RX-8 and there are recommendations for a Hyundai Coupe??

OP, if you aren't that knowledgeable or after anything in particular, then why not a Toyota Celica VVti (140bhp)...it'll feel quick enough, and there won't be any problems with insurance or mpg figures, and it looks good.

    Celica

Thats only an example of one, but a 3-4 year old one of them is easily achievable with your budget.

Honda s2000 (stunning car and very rare on the ground) or Celica 190, should get 30+ mpg if your not driving around in 'lift'.

He mentioned an RX8 in his first post, not a turbo but 140 bhp RWD and jap... fair bit away from a hyundai coupe:p

    :D

    Yes you've a choice of 192bhp, 231bhp or 250bhp (Jap) in the Rx8 but no 140bhp :)

Didn't you get the impression from the rest of his post that it was the looks he was after?:)

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/M3/%23%23%23-M3/201034199277726/advert?channel=CARS

the only coupe id even consider would be a merc or bmw.

I'd say if he is put off by the running costs of the RX-8 then an M3 is hardly going to be on the cards.

If the OP would give us some feedback we could make better suggestions! We're only guessing what would suit him/her now at this stage
