I don't know about you but I just pissed myself laughing at the absurdity of those pictures. TBH since Sega lost the original writer of Yakuza 1 the game has been getting more and more absurd. It's a pity we never got the feudal japan episode here in the west, I hear it's the best.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that Retr0, apparently Yakuza 4 is very good, and in my opinion Yakuza 3 has a very good story.

Anyways, I don't see how this game, which appears to be a spin-off game in much the same way as RgG: Kenzan was, is ruining the series. It looks like a blast! At least they're trying to keep the series fresh. I'm hoping it's a mix of beat-em up and shooter, and not just a plain third person shooter.

The fact the Ryuji has a MECHA GUN ARM (!) makes me think that this is indeed a spin-off. Can't wait for Yakuza 4 next year, maybe if it sells well we'll get this spin-off. I'd be tempted to import it for added insanity. :pac:

Well I have only played have of Yakuza 1 so just going on what I heard on a podcast saying that as it progressed the story has gotten sillier. Anyway Got Yakuza 3 yesterday finally. I really should finish them all considering I own the full series!

I turned on Yakuza 3 for the first time in two months this week. I love the game, but man it's a hard one to finish. I'm 30 hours in, and I have crazy OCD about the subquests and stuff. Luckily some of the minigames are nigh on sadistic so I can safely ignore some of them :pac:

This is a series for Japanophiles, through and through. Everytime I play it I just want to go back to Tokyo (which I will be in a few weeks :)). There's some really dodgy game design on occasion, but for the most part I love it, despite repetition, random battles etc...

This... I don't know. Zombies? Why does every franchise feel the need to shoehorn in zombies these days :( Lame.

Still, will wait for more details, and we still have Yakuza 4 to come! Huzzah! A Yakuza game with a full city, though, is a dream game!

Maybe the zombie thing is a hoax?

I've only played Yakuza 3 but i enjoyed it. I read an import review of Yakuza 4 which said it was good but not majorly different from 3.

It's not a hoax. It's actually a 'gaiden' to the main story so not officially canon.

I tried the demo of Yakuza 3 and never really warmed to the combat, sadly I think I would have given it more of a chance if you were beating up zombies instead:o

I don't think its ruining it per say but it is definitely a departure from what were used to. The Wiki page is reporting that it will be canon to the series and if that's the case I would love to see how it pans out. If its just a side game then fair enough.

Some reports say that only Japan is getting it anyway, and the full unedited release of 4 is in jeopardy.

I hopeit's not just me that thinks Yakuza: The End looks awesome. I'd say it has more marketing clout than Yakuza 4 and might be a good way of getting the series the attention it deserves in the West.

I was gonna say, that look ****ing brilliant. Yakuza 3 bored me to tears and if this is what it takes to kick the series up the arse, then more power to Sega.

The gameplay video fills me with a little more hope. The dual wielding looks amazing, and as long as it controls well (frickin' guns in Yakuza 3 ) there is some potential. If it even goes for the Dead Rising zombie genocide gameplay but minus all those annoying design choices that Capcom have made, well we'll definitely wait and see how it goes!

Still think it's a bizarre change of pace for the franchise, which is probably why many fans are up in arms.

hope the zombie thing will just die

Sure that will have never happen. You need to go for the head. Only way it will die.

It's probably the last one, why not throw in zombies. And robots. And laser sharks.

I remember playing that True Crime game years ago, though. Zombies turning up didn't make it any better.
