would anyone have any ideas on what i could expect the weather to be like down here last week of september? Also with regards to restaurants and bars and all that would they be open / shut i.e do they close at the end of the high season? thanks. I would like a bit of sun and am not keen on canaries type thing.

Pleasant during the day, temp in the 20s, can be nippy at night though. A jumper or fleece might be useful. Can be overcast, but there'd still be a bit of glare. Rain is always a possibility.

Everything should be open, I've been down there a lot and at varying times of year and don't recall seeing places closed for off season. The private beach bars will be closing up, which is no big deal, they're all overpriced anyway.

Barcelona would be warmer and has a nice beach with everything open and is not a canaries type destination.
Cascais near Lisbon would be warmer also-you could do a few days there and then in Lisbon up the road a few miles.

Nice might have cooled down to low 20's by then and as mike says coolish by night but pretty much everything will still be open.

Nice (forecast 27 deg tomrw) will be warm until Oct. Bring a jumper for night time as Mike Dragon said - but it will be still swimming weather (for us Paddies anyway!) Everything will be open. They don't really have an off-season.

Hah! I remember the first time I went to Nice, December. Arrived a day late following fierce storms that closed the airport, but still went around in just a shirt and jeans. Locals looked at us like we were insane! It was still warm though.

Heading down again in October, will be bringing togs!
