    just a quick question please.

i usually pay my tax every 3 months, for 3 months. 2 months ago i got let go so didnt pay my tax...im looking to re-new my tax now but hoping not to have to pay the last two months, by saying it was off the road and getting a gard to stamp the form...

the question is, can they find out if my car has been on the road by me driving thru any of the toll bridges?? or any other way?

i have not been stopped at any check points since it has been out of date

    thanks

Well by driving thru the toll bridge there is a record of your car being on the road. Im not sure if the guards would check this or not, but if you were to sign a false declaration and the guards were to find out you would be in a lot of trouble. You may feel differently but personally for the sake of a couple of hundred quid its not a risk Id be even considering taking.

Yes, all toll booth camera records are stored for such use. You will have to pay double the missing tax and may have your car confiscated.

(Some or all of the above may or not be true)

    And, what's a "gard" ?

Everybody get off the high horse in here.

And to answer your question OP , I've got many a car cleared as " Off the road " by getting the motor tax renewal form stamped to say as such in the Garda station. I've crossed the toll bridge lots of times and it doesnt seem to matter.

Yes because tax evasion is no big deal, right

I see from the rest of your post you're one of them anyway.

Well I imagine it's a Garda but I'm sure you knew that ;)

It is no worse than calling them Guards as if they are like security guards.

    Garda singular, Gardai plural.

Now I am going to duck before people start throwing things :P

Was the original question not asking if the toll brige computer talks to the Garda computer and not " Tax evasion , is it right or wrong " !

And if you want to go off topic then A) I hope you've never done anything , not one tiny little thing wrong in your life ever , B) who gives a sh!t over 3 months car tax and C) I hope you feel good paying all your taxes to be ploughed straight back into Anglo.

Just answer the bloody question people , give over with the high horse , correct spelling bullsh!t and if you have a problem with tax evasion then p!ss off to R&R ;):p If you dont have /know the answer to the original question then your input is useless . Call Joe Duffy about it

So it ok to break the Law? This is one of the reasons this country is in such a mess. Everyone is looking for a loop-hole to get out of paying their tax. Then we complain when the tax increases the next budget because of the shortfalls.

OP, sorry you got let go and you're under some financial preasure but, pay your back tax and stop trying to swindle the Tax payers in this country.

Nobody like handing their money over to this inept government but, not paying taxes will just hurt us all in the long run.
