    Hi all,
Stupid question but is it possible to get Skype to limit itself to one window in Linux? In windows it is all "self contained" and the default installation in Ubuntu opens new windows for each conversation...which I hate.

    Cheers.

Have you looked around in preferences?

Yeah, had a quick look around (laptop is at home and I'm at work so can't check it now). Nothing jumped out at me though.

Had a poke around there, doesn't look like there's any way to do it.

The Windows version of Skype is miles ahead of the Linux one, it's about time they got their fingers out, or someone built in Skype support to Empathy or Pidgin.

It's not possible. The linux version is so far behind the windows version it's not funny anymore. :(

Make a script to kill any 2nd Skype process running? :pac:

    I'm no scripter btw. :D

*If* the Skype program added a second process when it creates a second window (which, as far as I can see, it doesn't) all that would serve to do is close the second window again.

I think you misunderstood the OP's question.

there is a skype plugin for pidgin ... http://eion.robbmob.com

you have to be running skype as well as pidgin though... a bit awkward, but it does work.
