Who cares what Sonnen says? He is an act. An out and out act. I couldnt care less about him.

What he said about GSP was enjoyable. GSP does my head in

The guy is hilarious! Some of the stuff he comes out with is amazing!

He's a breath of fresh air i think. He's one of the only proper trash talkers. Dan Hardy is a clown who seems like a petulant child. Wheras Chael is hilarious!

He'd want to get past Silva before worrying about Lesnar and GSP. Imagine what Lesnar would do to him. He would destroy him. As for the poem, I cant see how it was Silva who broke, when it was Sonnen who was tapping and Silva getting his hand raised. He is an idiot of a man

The important thing to remember about Sonnen talking, is that he believes everything he says, including the bits that dont make any sense, and the times he contradicts himself.

Hahahahaha, yeah, but that's what makes him awesome.

I kinda didnt like his trash talking at first, but the longer it went on the more i loved it. And the fact he backed up (almost) everything he said. He's great!

The man that has only lost 1 round in the UFC, the guy who was basically considered unbeatable at 185, who people were lining up for a shot at 205 now that Machida is off the top, You can't see how the Silva's image, the facade was torn down by Chael. It was like the first time you seen you dad crying, you say to yourself, wow, he's can be a bitch too!!!!

Any chance of a quoted reproduction here for those of us who have filters in work?
AUSTIN, Texas – Prior to his now legendary UFC 117 clash with Anderson Silva, UFC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen launched a months-long verbal assault of epic proportions.

While an official date has yet to be announced for the forthcoming rematch, Sonnen is already up to his old tricks.

And while it's Silva on whom the challenger is most focused, he's got some kind words for "a French-Canadian Minnie Mouse," the UFC's heavyweight champion with a "$5 haircut and a knife tattooed on [his] chest," and a certain "Axe Murderer" who Sonnen says "used to be a fighter."

"I'm ready to go,' Sonnen said at Tuesday's special Q&A session at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. "Is Anderson here somewhere? I'll kick his ass from Austin all the way to San Antonio.

"People keep saying, 'Chael, you're hyping the fight.' No I'm not. Hyping a fight is when I tell you guys, 'This is going to be a great fight.' I did just the opposite (before the first fight), and I'm going to do just the opposite now. This is not going to be a great fight. This is going to be him getting beat up for 25 minutes or until he gives up."

Sonnen appeared well on his way to victory in the pair's August meeting after dominating the champion through nearly four-and-a-half rounds. But the fight took an unpredictable turn in the fifth and final frame when Silva latched onto a desperation triangle choke and elicited the tap from Sonnen.

Sonnen predicts it will be different this time around, and he was less-than-complimentary of Silva's vaunted standup attack even after witnessing it first hand.

"I think [Silva] is a great fighter, but he's not as good as me," Sonnen said. "He's not as good as Yushin Okami, either. He's not the best guy in the world, and he never has been. He's a sham.

"He's one of these guys that throws leg kicks. So what if you get get kicked in your leg? What a bunch of [crying]. Getting kicked in the leg and admitting that hurts is like admitting you're scared in the dark. It may be true, but if you say it, you're a real wimp."

Sonnen said he's not discounting the danger that Silva presents in the rematch. Nevertheless, he believes the belt will be wrapped firmly around his waist after the second meeting, and he's already considering a few superfights afterward.

Sonnen said he'd be willing to move down a bit and face welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in a catchweight contest or jump up a class and challenge current light heavyweight title holder Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.

"'GSP' had better pray to heaven above that 'Shogun' accepts my challenge because one of those two is getting beat up," Sonnen said.

When called on his bluff by a fan in regards to a potential matchup with St-Pierre, Sonnen immediately launched into one of his patented tirades while insisting he was more than serious.

'If GSP said he wanted to fight me, the first thing I would say is the same thing I say every time I hear GSP talk: 'Dang it that guy sounds like a French-Canadian Minnie Mouse,'" Sonnen said. "That's the first thing I'd say. Then I'd say, 'Hey, GSP, let me ask you a serious question – do you have a designated driver? Do you have someone to get you home safely? Because clearly you are intoxicated.

"'GSP, do you have a hankering for pain? GSP, did you lose a bet with God? GSP, bring your $3,000 suit, bring your $3 date and get the three-cent tan knocked off your socialist back.' If you see GSP, give him that message for me."

Sonnen didn't limit his challenges to fighters outside his own division. There were brief mentions of Michael Bisping ("I don't think I'm going to help his career") and Wanderlei Silva ("used to be a fighter"), for instance.

But as testament to his belief that it's simply not possible to bite off more than he can chew, Sonnen took his challenges all the way to the top – UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

"If Brock Lesnar was here right now, I'd take my boot off and throw it at him, and he'd better polish it up before he brings it back to me," Sonnen said. "Talking about he's the baddest guy in the UFC? Brock, quit eating so many raw eggs and doing push-ups because it's affecting your realm of reality. Are you kidding me? I'd slap you in your face, and you wouldn't do anything.

"'I'm Brock Lesnar. I've got this $5 haircut and a knife tattooed on my chest.' I'll shove it up your face if you get in Chael Sonnen's way."

So with another shot at the UFC's middleweight title on the horizon, Sonnen's trash-talking range once again knows no limits. And in an effort to step up his game from the awe-inspiring levels of his UFC 117 clash with Silva, Sonnen has now taken to operating with completely different mediums.

With that in mind, Sonnen debuted a poem-in-progress, currently titled "Anderson, who you gonna send?"
    Anderson, think it through.
There's still a few months before they lock the cage door behind me and you.
Last time, they raised your hand, but it was plain to see
I took a lot more about of you than you took out of me.
I broke the mirror, and I blew away the smoke.
It was me who tapped, but it was you who broke.

    Sorry it's late!

Ya but Silva still won at the end of the day. Talking isnt going to get Sonnen any belts. He's basically a pro wrestler who happens to do mma. Everything he says is scripted. I dont watch mma for that kind of drama to be honest. Sonnen just annoys me, I didnt even watch the hype for the Silva fight. I really cant stand him

Chael Sonnens trash talk is brilliant. The man is hilarious. I was glad to hear him have a go at Lesnar and GSP. Lesnar the "baddest man on the planet" and he turns his back to punches!? pffff stick to the pro wrestling honey :D

1 more title defence and he'll be the most successful HW champion in UFC history... Honey...

I'm praying Silva disposes of him quickly the 2nd time around.

The idea that he gets an immediate rematch just because "he was winning until he lost" ........

Why hasn't Carwin got an immediate rematch????

Thats simple, The UFC like Brock as champ and want him there till someone who sells ppv better comes along and Carwin will/would Smash him again but do it better next time, Silva on the other hand they don't like as he is boring and would not win any long term MMA fans to the cause with his negative style of fighting..

Sonnen deserved a rematch as did Carwin in my opinion..

I don't think it's fair to say "he was winning until he lost" and stick Carwin into the same category.
Sonnon wasn't just winning, he was dominating and IMO took several 10-8 rounds before being caught in the last round but up until the last round Silva hadn't any answer to Sonnon's onslaught.
Carwin won 1 round of a 5 round fight. It's hardly as domination a win as Sonnons.

    Isn't it?

That was a 10-8 round for Carwin. He was winning until he lost. Same as Sonnen. Carwin gassed and Sonnen got submitted yet again...... had Carwin have been in shape, he'd have dominated 5 rounds, if Sonnen had better sub defence, he'd have won the title, really what's the difference? They were both winning until they lost.....

Or maybe they have a pile of challengers waiting for Brock in the HW division, and the middleweight isnt as stacked? You make it sound like they're protecting Brock. If that was the case they wouldnt have put him against Carwin in the first place, or put him against Velasquez next. Or against Dos Santos if he wins that.

Brock was the better fighter on the night on fairness to him., Maybe Silva wasnt, but Brock certainly was

Carwin won 1 round, and IMO most of the shots he hit Brock with were deflected, it may have been a 10-8 round but Sonnen had won 4 rounds in a row with probably all of them being 10-8.

Sonnen made Silva look like an amateur for 4 and a half rounds.
Where as Carwin hit Brock a good uppercut and managed to capitalize on that, keep Brock on his back but didn't finish him.

    HUGE difference.

I understand the point you are making, and Sonnen certainly dominated the fight for longer, but IMO Carwin did more to Brock in 1 round than Sonnen did to Silva in 4. Sonnen took Silva down at will and stayed busy landing hand slaps and annoying arm punches, but I can't think of any point in that fight where I thought "Ooooh the refs gonna stop this" whereas I was astonished Brock made it out of round 1.....

I see your point and we're basically arguing over the same thing, but just on your point - Sonnen not landing any damage:

    Dropping Silva:

This is not mentioning those brutal shoulders into Silva's face. Anyhow - all this has convinced me of is; I really want to see a rematch between Sonnen and Silva :)

I'm not disagreeing that Sonnen landed offence though!

I'm not sure - I was thinking Dos Santos... I think Carwin could beat him though, if he has another chance. Dos Santos didn't really impress me against Nelson either... :/

True. I like JDS, his offensive technique looks good, wasn't impressed with his defence or footwork though. His TD defence looks tight and rumour has it his ground game is decent...... Is he up to beating Brock though? I'm not sure.

I think Cain is gonna beat Brock myself.

Carwin could beat him if he had a gas tank......

I don't buy the argument thatSonnen is the only opponent for Silva though..... Vitor and Okami for starters. With Nate and Maia climbing towards a rematch. You could say it would be unfair on Sonnen for Nate or Okami to get a shot again ahead of him given the 1 sided defeats Sonnen gave them, but one must remember that Maia gave Sonnen a pretty 1 sided defeat of his own......

I think Carwin is the kind of guy who won't make that mistake again...

Cain or JDS, both good match ups against Brock, I think Brock showed a definite weakness in his stand up and all his prospective opponents can smell blood!

I think that was one of the main draws for this fight - the fact no one believed Sonnen should even be fighting Silva (espically after how quickly Mia beat him and the beating Silva gave Mia), then after his performance he just had to get a rematch!

What mistake? Not being able to KO Brock?
Cain or JDS, both good match ups against Brock, I think Brock showed a definite weakness in his stand up and all his prospective opponents can smell blood!

I personally think Brock has shown that he can take a hell of a lot of punches from a fighter with the most KO power in the organization and still go on to win. If Lesnar can survive a Carwin onslaught and wrestle him to the ground and win then Lesnar could survive any onslaught from any other heavyweight.

What happened last time someone exposed a weakness in Lesnar? (ask Frank Mir)

Like Lesnar not getting submitted against Mir the second time? :) Lesnar is well able to learn and adapt too

It always has to be some kind of conspiracy when it comes to Lesnar with some people....Sonnen is getting an immediate rematch because that is the biggest fight that they can make in the MW division right now. Carwin is not getting an immediate rematch there is a bigger fight for Lesnar against Velasquez and possibly Dos Santos after that. Both of those fighters looked immense in their last performances and don't look as if they will be completely gassed after 5 minutes.

If you asked the fans who they would like to see challange next at MW, the majority would say Sonnen. If you asked them who they would like to see challenge at HW, the majority would say Velasquez or Dos Santos in my opinion.

It certainly isn't a matter of protecting him.
