I'd say you will be charged for the second visit.

No, once you have been diagnosed with something, lets say, cancer, the various treatments, surgery, chemo, radiotherapy, are all free for the next however many years it takes. Great system, eh?

Truthful answer: Technically, yes, GPs charge on a per visit rate; but many many GPS have no rate/reduced rate if you are returning with the same problem, particularly if they specifically asked you to return.

I agree with Vorsprung- the best thing is to ring the surgery reception and ask how much is costs for a review visit. Most GPs offer a reduced rate if you are seen for the same problem within a short time (e.g. one to two weeks).

Yes and no. My doctor provides me with free renewals of prescriptions or changes to prescriptions where these changes have been worked out as a possible option during a previous visit and where either the renewal or change does not require a further check up. If I do have to have a second check up based on the same condition as the first my GP charges me only half her normal going rate.

I would not expect to get a check up for free as she has a business to run and bills to pay etc.
