If a person hurts their back in a work injury and claims compensation through a court, how much do you think that person could expect?
I'm not looking for legal advice, just some opinions.

It would depend on so many things. Nature of injury. Effect on quality of life. Duration of injury and expected recovery time. Contributory negligence. To name but a few.

That's true, I suppose my question is like 'I'm opening a book, guess what page it's on' :)

Yup and the book is called the Book of Quantum. Not definitive by any stretch by a decent guide to most injuries.

give us details of what kind of work injury and if the injury has cleared - how long did it take and the effect injury has had etc etc

age of person is also important ...and scarring

Back injury due to a fall, his back pain still bad, unable to lift heavy things, unable to stand or sit for long periods, normal work is out (building trade) it's a 38 year old man.

This thread is getting very close to the legal advice line. Questions about the Book of Quantum will be allowed, but please do not give or ask for any advice that is specific to a case current or impending.

Based on the replies thus far, I'm thinking about leaving this open for now in case OP has questions about the Book of Quantum or the process of PI claims, but again please refrain from specific advice.

I would advise this person to consult a solicitor to ascertain the nature of a claim, if any.

    Each case is different.

Assuming other party 100% negligent and there is no contributory negligence, depends on medical report plus possibly other reports from rehab assessor, actuary if long term effects etc etc.

    See you solicitor.

Thank you for not closing the thread, I am pleased to get the info on The Book of Quantum. I will not ask anymore questions or give anymore info.
    I think I got what I needed. :)
