Ordering Books from Publishers

Just wondered if someone could help me. I'm on the dip and was told to order the books from the publishers by one of the teachers. I emailed gill and mcmillian who told me to ring a number press 1 and leave my details to order, which I did. Does this mean they will just send me the book? Its been a few days and I haven't heard anything. I am happy to just go buy the book but if its on the way I'll struggle on as there are copies in the school. I also (think I) ordered a book from the EDCO website in the teacher section but same as, haven't heard a thing! Should I expect them or just go buy them? This is all very new to me!

Both Edco and G&M are great for sending out books for teachers so I wouldn't bother buying them if I were you! If it has been a while since you contacted Edco maybe ring your local rep and ask if they got your order?!?

    Good luck with the dip!

Send an email. I remember I ordered through a publisher's website. Just quoted the school roll no and address and it was delivered to the school within a week.

Who ends up paying for these books?

I was asked to send an email from my school email address with the roll number of the school - I guess that's reasonable so they know it is legit.
I heard of one publisher that wanted a copy of the book list, to confirm that the school was actually using the book.

Folens ask for a copy of the booklist but I got them to send out samples for Action Maths for 3rd/4th to me the last day and I said I didn't use the book, but that I wanted a sample to see it. They were fine with that. However, I was also ordering their maths cards for those two classes as I've heard they're good for early finishers. They would have given me those for free if I was using the scheme (and would have had to send the booklist) but they were €20 for non-users. So, I think they're all fine sending a sample to teachers whether you use the book or not. For free :) That's about he extent of the perks of the job (regarding freebies)!!

Well, I've just put my order in for books we will be using next year, I want a personal copy of each one (4 in total) so will let you know how it goes.

They should send them really, as if they are well liked we will be ordering full sets.
