It's a fine compressor. I have the same thing sold by Aldi, never a moment's bother. Handy for the DIY'er.

Does the 24 litre make a difference , I've seen 50,100 and 200 litre compressors are they more powerful or what?

You only need a large compressor if you want long bursts of sustained air. If you're using it as a nail gun, or for pumping tires, it'll be fine. If it was a professional mechanics garage, you'd probably want a larger tank so you could have even air pressure for longer periods of time - for example using an air grinder to cut sheet metal, or if you wanted to spray paint a car, or if you wanted to run more than one tool at the same time.

I`ll be just DIY-ing with it.
    Thanks for the help

Not bad actually, I have the sandblaster attachment. Works well with the provided material, works good with soda too.

Good stuff, cheers. I have a bike part that needs a blast as the paint is flaking. Hopefully it'll do the job.

would it work in any way well with the hvlp gun for spraying smallish motor panels do you know?

Hope to pick one up for the house/garage, handy for keeping tyres pumped since quite a few petrol stations don't seem to to offer this service anymore.

Just saw this today. The Lidl page mentions 'craftwork'. I want to airbrush model train kits. Would this compressor be suitable when airbrushing small items or would it be too powerful? I have been using compressed air cans that are sold in hobby shops but they are very expensive and run out quickly :( Most of the other compressors I saw on-line cost hundreds of yo-yos

That'll be the filtering. If you put the required airtrap and preferably the oil filter and a regulator, then I suspect this will be perfect.

But on its own I think you'd just get splutters and probably waste more paint. I looked in Haplins who have these from time to time too, and these accessories for the spray painter, model maker were quite expensive so I did not proceed.

It works okay with airbrushes. Originally when they sold this in Aldi (It's the same compressor), for your 99 Euro, they included a 6 piece air toolkit, including spray gun, tire inflater, spray gun for engine degreaser/schultz, air duster, airbrush kit, and something else I can't remember. It also came with a 6 metre hose.

No. HVLP requires a steady high volume, low pressure of air. They are selling a gun separately for spraying, but I wouldn't be using it to spray anything other than fences and walls TBH, it looks cheap and nasty. It would probably work fine for a base coat, but you would never get a lacquer finish to be smooth. You'd also need to purchase a moisture trap with it.

This one does not come with any media. Any idea where you can get media, or what you can use ? Also - is media expensive ?

I got the reel, sandblaster and stapler and the connections are different to the compressor I have. This is the third different connector I've seen. Is there any adapter for this?

eBay might be a good place to look

Yeah, that's where I got the second set of connectors that isn't compatible with my compressor. The original set has the "flanges" that hold the coupler in the socket angled towards the rear of the connector, the eBay set is the opposite and the Lidl gear is a bigger diameter.

Hey anyone purchased the Lidl one and if so how do they find it ? Is there any hose supplied with the compressor or do you have to buy it separate ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,196 ✭✭✭deadl0ck

I bought it and find it goo. There is a hose with the compressor but no accessories.

Has anybody any information on where to get sandblasting media ??
