hi i was just wondering if you can go on the 5month J1 if you have just finished college? I'm graduating in January 2011, but would love to go on the J1, work 4months and travel for the last month. Does anyone know if i can do it? i no you can for the 12 month program but i only want to go for 5. thanks !

Yes you can do it. From May to October. I finished college in May of last year, went on the 5 month J1 visa and then on the 1 year J1 visa.

You do however, have to show some proof that you will be returning to Ireland. Something like a job offer or college acceptance (for post grad or something) would do perfectly.
