If I don't vent this I'll burst. Lovely to see people treating the city with such disrespect.

Having a nice stroll around the city when I head down to Cruises st via the lane from William st.

I noticed a mother with her young daughter. The mother had bought a toy pony. Middle of the street, the mother opened the box, threw it on the ground, walked on, took the toy out of the inside box and dumped that on the ground, then tore off the plastic and dumped that on the ground.

    You fcuking tango scumbag.

Nice lesson to teach your kid.

Does Limerick have a litter warden, seriously?

Should we say something to these people if we see it happening?!

There's a free phone litter hotline run by Limerick City council. 1800 216816. Ring them and report the litterer.

Some people in Limerick are disadvantaged to a shocking extent. I wouldn't feel any sense of pride in the place if I was in their shoes. Only a total looney would tbh.

    See how one brave Dubliner reacted to littering;

In ^^ Video a guy went up to a guy in a suit and "educated" him about his littering.

Would anybody here have approached that woman?

    Plus one.com

Working in the city centre i see this every day.

I was driving up end of Patrick Street outside McDonalds when I saw a eastern eiropean begger (not picking on them) and her child, forgive me but the kidd was having a S**t outside Pennies to the rhs. People walking past not saying anything, I stopped in traffic and walked over and asked what she was doing... Oh sorry oh sorry is all i got but at least she stopped her.

    F**ck** up.....

You don't have to put yourlelf in any way or even approach the person, pick up the box in front of them and maybe they might think twice about doing it the next time. Why should you have to do it, you shouldn't but why not do it since it is a negative impact on the palce you live in so many ways.... I'm sure there will be so many people that don't agree or its the councils job, it probably is but if the public in general don't care about society and our surroundings, then we all screwed....

Just my too cents, no point in burying heads in the sand or discussing it till the cows come home, if you pick the box up it might actully make a difference someday...

As far as I know only one traffic warden, was 2 and 1 retired!!!

    Hi all,
Rang that phone number and left every detail I could. Hopefully, something will come of it but I very much doubt so.

Pointing out to someone that they dropped it sounds good in theory, but "starting something" with the scummy mummy I met wouldn't be the best idea. Since she has so little regard for her city, I would easily class her as the type of person that would get her baby daddy and his mates to sort me out etc etc.

And that litter "hotline" number isn't worth a fiddle.
There is a disused Esso garage by my house and my boyfriend spoke to the Enviroment Officer about the litter there during the summer, she did (surprise, surprise) nothing.
I then called the litter "hotline" more recently and guess what I didn't get any response.......

At this wedding a few weeks back, some of the assembled crowd didn't have much pride in their city, at least two fully loaded nappies discarded on the path afterwards...great fun dodging these landmines while out running
