Hey all, I've recently set up the machine at home with Ubuntu and have been trying to configure the wireless card. I spent endless hours installing the ndiswrapper and drivers and finally got my netgear wireless card working. However, after restarting the machine I seem to be back to square one.

I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend an out of the box linux compatible wireless adapter?

    Thanks in advance.

I was going to suggest the Netgear WG111 one I have for sale on adverts.ie but it seems that one you need to mess around with ndiswrapper a bit too for that :p
So if it's Ubuntu you might check out the Linux Mint hardware compatibility site since Mint is based off Ubuntu:
    http://community.linuxmint.com/hardware
Just put in "WIFI card/adapter/dongle", "Works perfectly" and "Isadora" (assuming you have 10.04) and a few should pop up.

Mint isnt based on ubuntu anymore

op i have a linksys wusb600n, worked out of the box in 9.04, but for later versions of ubuntu it didnt, but its very easy to manually install the driver, ive posted here before recently, should you decide to get it !

The one that's based on Ubuntu is! :p
Or at least the next one will be, Mint 10 Julia will have an Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat base: http://www.linuxmint.com/blog/?p=1485
The Debian one is just another edition if that's what you're referring to.

Yeah, I'm thinking of upgrading to the newest release before trying these out so I'll see how that goes. Thanks!
