Hi all. Have just completed a clean install of XP Home on an 8year old Fujitsu laptop. Problem is when I connect my vodafone mobile broadband (Huawei) modem, it wont complete the installer. It says that I need administrative privileges. Am confused as have only one user account, and its an admin account... Would be grateful for any solution suggestions . Thanks...

There will be an Administrator account on the PC.. Can you log in with this account and try installing the software.. (and maybe assign your own account Administrator privileges)

My account is the Administrator account. And its the only user account on the laptop. Its through this account that i'm trying to load the software, which is the confusing bit for me...

Not sure if this will help or not, but try switching off the laptop for a few minutes then boot up and login as normal.

Maybe the first install just needs a reboot to sort out the registry and stuff before it starts behaving like a computer.
    ?

When the app runs kill it and then navigate to the virtual CD drive the device creates and find the installation app three and RIGHT click on it and pick RUN AS off the menu, then provide the admin username and password to run the app. May not work but its sorted a few similar problems with mobile broadband dialer software installation.
