We have nothing to fear, but fear itself :pac:

Yields on those bonds are around 4.25% and 5.49% for the 2014 and 2018, respectively.

Whats the deal with the benchmark?

Are we allowed to compare Irish and German 4 / year bonds are is there something special about the ten year ones that makes them uniquely comparable?

Sure, just plot the yield curves. The benchmark is the most recent issuance of that maturity class. The 10 year is often quoted because it's an important benchmark for long-term borrowing rates for the private sector; e.g., fixed-rate mortgages, corporate debt, et cetera.

Interestingly: no 10-year bonds with the yields still around 5.8%.

Amounts to be auction to be announced on Friday.

I really thought this would be the month the NTMA sat it out.

I don't think they'd be doing it if there was any fear it would be badly TBH.

Might have been better if the final bill for Anglo was announced and the markets had time to digest things, right now the uncertainty is giving the markets the jitters.

On an aside why do the Irish Times refer to Government Bonds as Government Stock? Never seen this convention before, strange way to refer to bonds?

Why the rush on going to the well again? Uncertainty on Anglo and Cowen's recent antics can't be helping...

Fear its all coming to a head between the Bonds increasing in price, cowen and his drinking and the uncertainty about his leadership.

In the next 21 days our country will be completely different.

Decreasing in price. Price and yield move inversely ;).

The results are here. High bid-to-cover ratio on the four year.
