Upgrading to Sky HD - already recorded content?

I have the upgrade to HD booked for Friday, but at the moment I have a bunch of movies recorded on my Sky+ box that I haven't gotten around to watching yet.

What happens to my old box? Is there a way (apart from the copy function and a PVR) to keep this recorded content for later watching?

You get to keep your old box. The only way to view these after the install is to maintain an active sub on the box (e.g. with Sky multiroom).

A long shot is that you could transfer your active viewing card from the new box to the old. This may allow playback of content from non-premium channels but I'm not sure.

Or, have a few late nights to catch up on the content...! :)

By the way - how much is the upgrade from Sky+ to Sky+ HD these days, and are you taking out the HD sub (€15/month)?

The viewing card for new box may work for non-premium channels in old box. Not sure.

long winded but,,, transfer recordings onto a pc , opening and removing the hard drive from your + box. use copy+ to transfer.

open the new HD box remove the hard drive and using copy + copy the recordings onto new Hard drive .

    should work.. ) :D

Or you could just record all premium content onto a dvd

Thanks for the advice, y'all. I don't think I care enough about these movies to bother removing hard drives, although I have to admit the procedure appeals somewhat to my inner geek... :)

JDxtra, the upgrade is €30 with a free HD box, and the sub is an extra €15 per month.
