On the look out for this at the mo. Doesn't seem to be a huge selection in the general builders merchants.
Looking for a design similar to the attached - will be painted white so no need for any veneer etc.

Have seen one that is pre-painted white (with different design) - has anyone used a pre-painted mdf skirting before?... any issues?

Am based in Midlands & Dublin.

    Cheers

Have you considered ripping sheets of mdf and using a router to get the edge profile you need?

Have done this myself and it worked out way cheaper than buying the skirting, you can have it whatever size you like and whatever profile edge you like too. Also, you can make up your architrave from mdf and have the same edge to match up.

    Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion Puppy Cat. The mrs says I can't even spell DIY :) so doubt I'd be let loose on the skirting!
Should really ask the guy who is doing my joinery but he's driving me a bit mad already so don't want to be having to deal with him on this as well.
Thanks again - will probably mention it to him and see what reaction I get.

Have done a bit of looking and Brooks seem to have a decent range.
They supply Sam Mouldings ttp://www.sammouldings.co.uk/index.htm and Balcas http://www.balcas.com/site/default.asp?CATID=298&s=Fable MDF Mouldings

OK if your chippie is already driving you mad that's not a good sign! Don't forget YOU'RE paying him to do what YOU want and there's plenty more fish in the sea these days :D

Once the set up is correct then buying the sheets of mdf and ripping them down and routering is no problem to any half competent chippie.

Not sure where you are but if you want to PM me I can pass on the name of my guy or maybe might know someone in your neck of the woods that would be of help.

Have a think about it anyway. There's a lot to be said for "bespoke" skirting/architrave :)

I can give you some pointers on the cost/time/effort involved too. Been there, done that.
