Mate it sounds like your handbrake is stuck / too tight.

Have you had it looked at?

Might bring it into Kwik Fit or similar to have it quickly looked over. They can give you a quote for work.

I dont know why you think its the calipers? or new calipers would solve the problem.

Has the car been left idol for a few weeks / months? something could be seazed.

yeah i brought it somewhere and they said the brakes are binding badly and it needed new callipers... was he talking sh1t? na i have been driving it all the time... just one morning last week i went out drove to work, noticed it squeelling a bit and dragging. then i left work in the evening car was fine till i braked, went to pull away and it was being held back by the front and the noise was back.

Well then, he is correct. they are 'binding' the cylinders are either worn / dried / or dirty. You can rebuild them as above or replace the calipers all together.

Easy enough job if you have some mid level mechanical skills. Otherwise you could be looking at a 300-500 costs as id imagine your brakelines may need replacing also.

1- buy new. get part no - www.realoem.com or ring GSF for parts quote.

2 - go to scrappers to pick up some ( not a super option as who knows what damage is on them)

3 - get replacements from another owner who may have upgraded their brakes. although 318 upgrades would be slim on the ground. for more owners www.bmw-driver.net
