Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have Office 2000 on disk c/w key which I had installed on my laptop. However I have just bought a new netbook, can I download office 2000 for this using the key, or do I need to buy it again, obviously office 2010 if I am doing this!
    Thanks

I#m not 100% sure of the licencing requirements with Office but you could copy all the filees (including hidden files) to a USB key and use that to install on your netbook. You may want to check out the licencing for it though as to how many simultaneous machines you can install it on with that license. An alternative is OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) fully MS Office compatible and looks fairly similar, best of all it's free!

I'm confused. Do you have the disk, and not the key? If that's the case check this application out (it gets the licence for you) so all you need to do is install from the disk and enter in the key again.

If you're thinking about getting the latest office you will need a new licence for it.

Also +1 on OpenOffice. It reads all Microsoft filetypes.

Thanks for that! Hmm, the only thing I'm pondering is it's release date (10 Sep 2009).

OpenOffice released it's last update on 04 June 2010. The only thing I can say is that you should download it, try it and if you don't like it then uninstall it, it's free so the only thing it will cost you is your time!!!

Or try Google docs if you are online.

FYI - Office 2000 is not supported on Windows 7.

LOL, OP wanted Office 2000, and the current release (beta 4) of Symphony is a year old, which AFAIK is at least a year newer than Microsoft's last official patch / update for Office 2000 biggrin.gif.

I was talking about the release date for the IBM Lotus suggested earlier as opposed to OpenOffice.

    But yeah..........Office 2k eh?
