Hi, I'm looking to buy a Laptop that already has a video card installed. (This will be my first laptop purchase, have always bought desktops so am a bit clueless and need things spelled out!)

Budget €900. Wants: Windows, general internet, DVD drive, ability to capture video footage so that I can share it online (i.e youtube) etc, reasonably fast.

Am I likely to find such a Laptop in Mahon Point (PC World, Currys, Tesco) or Douglas Cork?

ETA: I know PC World aren't recommended but bought current desktop there 2 yrs ago - no probs whatsoever and they carried it out to my car for me! ;) so don't mind buying there again

All laptops have a built in video card...... Does the manufacturer of the video software have a list of minimum requirements that you could use as a guide?

Think he means a dedicated rather than an integrated GMA chip.

I've no idea what they'd stock, but be warned, PC World's salesmen at least are thicks and I've heard complaints about their techs too. Take everything they say with a handful of salt.

Assuming the laptop has a webcam, any current laptop will tick all those boxes. What i would suggest is by all means have a look at pc world etc, but before you buy anything, take note of a few you like (including model name and price) report it back here, and we will offer our suggestions!
Right of the bat, do not get any laptop that has windows vista. It was rubbish and is now dated. Make sure it has windows 7 on it.
Dont be persuaded to buy antivirus from them, or microsoft office. Antivirus is available free, and you can download open office for free as well.
    Good luck!

The sound store in wilton might be worth a look.

if you want a dedicated card, you would be hard pressed to get one for 900.

better off getting one on line.

try the sound store, you will probably get a one with a rather ancient ati card for your budget
