I currently have an open fire in the sitting room and directly behind this i plan to put in a stove in the kitchen, can i break into the flue that is currently there or would i need to put another in alongside it thus having to clear out the existing chimney of all the fill etc ?
Any help suggestions gratefully recieved !!!

what do you mean by this?
thus having to clear out the existing chimney of all the fill etc

    what kind of stove/fuel type?
Is the ventilation natural or mechanically assisted?

Its solid fuel burning, air draft,
If it turns out i have to put another flue alongside the existing one (from the sitting room open fire) naturally il have to take the chimney packing/filing out !

more trouble than its worth ,block up the open fire and use its flue for the stove , open fires are a waste of heat
