Howyis, I will be repeating internally this year. Computer Science, first year.

    My question is this,

would there be any reason I haven't heard from them asking for money or anything like that? No email confirming anything etc etc... Getting kinda worried now.

I sent an email to registrations, stating my problem etc..

Being the wonderfully helpful people that they are, they replied

    "contact exams

    Regards"

This is no surprise given the length of time it usually takes to get anything resembling decent, concise information from DIT. So i came here, any thoughts? anyone else repeating internally,it would be great to hear what youre situation is regarding contact from the school? or anyone that has repeated internally already?

How do you know you're definately repeating, have you got the results of your exams already?

haha no, but the face i wasnt in the country when they were taking place gives me a slight indication as to how my results will look.

Don't worry, they'll ask for the money eventually. Promise ;):p

I had to pay fees my first year in DIT (Had done a year elsewhere and didn't like the course) and they didn't ask for it at registration time but I think it was around the new year when they got around to asking for the fees, iirc.

Normally I'd be critical of them not being on top of things but this year they've taken an extra 900 students more than they'd usually take and combined with the understaffing thanks to the public service recruitment ban, they're probably too swamped to answer your question right now.

If the head of school allows you, you could pay up to €4000 to repeat the year.

If it is more than 60% of the course you need to repeat you will have to pay €4000 and if it is leass than 60% you will have to pay €2000.

    Thats wrong..

I've talked to the people in the office, its done on credits. 60 euro per credit. 5 credits in a module, so 300 per module.

If its less then 100% of the course, then the capitation fee is 135.

Thats what is says on the form in front of me, and thats what the office say.

Please note: Repeat students are liable to pay tuition fees and a capitation fee prior to registration. If you are repeating a complete programme year you will be liable to pay the full tuition fee plus the full time capitation fee
of €1500. If you are repeating less than a full programme year you will be liable to pay the module fee plus a part time capitation fee of €135.

Full year: Full tuition fee plus the full time capitation fee
    Full Year: €1500 + €2390 = €3890

I ring them yesterday and this is want they said.

    Peter
