Are they Tesco Value? I won't be buying them as i don't like ready meals in general. Thats good value though!

Pedigree Chum has a higher meat content & is more nutritious than the Shepards Pie :D

Seriously though; not a bad one at all for students though I'd advise learning to cook some fresh simple meals - Chicken Curry and Spag Bol are tasty and simple to cook too.

I love ready meals. I'm no student, but they're cheap and cheerful, and always handy.

The Curry & Chips and Bangers & Mash are horrible, though.

They have a good "All Day Breakfast" which is lovely. It's €2 on it's own, but there's plenty in it and it'd easily fill you.

The Shepherds pie is nice, too, as is the Chicken Cottage pie. All Day Breakfast is the best though.

You could try the Tesco Value Meals One Week Challenge!!

As a BA it may seem like good value but while the odd ready meal is fine, eating one everyday would probably leave you feeling awful as they normally have crazy levels of salt & fat.

You could cook a weeks worth of spag bol or chilli con carne or chicken curry for about €5.

2 friends of mine in college had a sort of "cooking club". They each batch cooked 2 dishes at the w'end & split them so they each had 4 options in their freezer

They aren't Tesco Value but they are easily just as bad, I'd stay away from them but the broke student may not have a choice!

All those meals only have the calories required for one day for average person. Buy a load of cheap mince, chicken etc in tesco , also buy whatever frsh veg is on special and cook it all up and you could eat well for week for a tenner to twenty.

    Pasta Bakes FTW

Get 2 jars of the sauces, about €1.50 each in Aldi/Tesco, a packet of pasta (€1) and some cheese slices €1 (ish) and you can get 6 days out of that I've found!

throw some pasta into a saucepan.
cook it, drain the water out.

then make some of that quick curry sauce. its like 30c a pack.

throw that on top of the pasta, and then add cheese, and some chopped up ham or sausages.

    fkin yum.

i also throw in some mushrooms etc.

costs like €2 in total and its gorgeous.

They used to have them in tesco in the uk years ago except it was 4 for £5

Tasted like cardboard tho, but I found if you put a little red sause into the mixture if its red or brown sause if it was brown made the whole experience more tasteful. As for the cals less than most as all the meat is injected with salt water to buff it up and add weight to the package
