    Hi guys,

I recently bought EZdrummer and I gotta say Im really liking it.
However, Im wondering if anyone could recommend a similar program for the bass guitar? Ive been googling around and I cant seem to find anything amazing....

In case you are wondering, I would like to get a decent quality one without breaking the band....I would mainly use these to get semi-decent quality (ie myspace decent quality) demos.

Obviously getting a real bass guitar would be better, and if I had a grand or so I would get a real decent bass in a heart beat!

Anyways, thanks for the help! :)

+1 on what Punchdrunk just said.

The Squire Vintage Modified basses are excellent value. I own the Jazz bass and have used it loads for gigging and recording and it's great.

There's a new Jaguar Vintage Modified that looks a real beauty.

The Squier Classic Vibe series have a great rep too.

just play a synth. vst or otherwise ,
loads of bass out there is really a synth line

and you can get very close to a good bass guitar sound.

Look up Trillian. Brilliant for all types of bass sound.

    definitely great for bass.

one thing about vst's is that if the bass you want has an any way funky rhythm its a nightmare to programme in the notes for it.

it's the same with a lot of stuff. You can't really pencil it in - unless you've got a really good technique.

Funky stuff, drums, bass, keys - is always just slightly off.

Funky Drummers and groovy bass players can groove quantise their stuff naturally. They can put great expression into stuff by doing very little.

    Thanks for the info guys...

I will take a look at Trilian and see if I can dig up some sound samples...

Any more suggestions are very much welcome! :)

Actually i totally forgot - as well as trillian (and all of Spectrasonics stuff is excellent)

I would checkout Steinbergs' virtual bass... that was pretty nice and dead simple to use... nice modeling for the real bass sounds and probably cheap as you like now... or if you like the demo i can probably dig out my cd for it here and do it a quid cheaper than whatever price you can find :)

I found it clearer and more 'real' than trilogy, but sort of limited by the play styles (there is room to change stuff though) - the virtual guitarist vst was also great - really bounced along with tracks and can't tell it's a vst as it uses real samples and real players.

Don't really use any of those any more as i'm basically doing more dance than real instrument based. I've done like one track with the guitar plugin and one with the bass plugin as steinberg gave us a stack of stuff cheap as.
