Just got iphone4 last week and I'm having really inconsistent speeds on 3g,usually have 3 bars, works fine in the early morning but come lunchtime it's almost unusable,I can be waiting over a minute to load a mobile webpage,it's regularly not even registering a download speed on the speedtest app, anyone having any similar problems?

All the time it's a complete and utter joke. I switched from o2 and am seriously regretting it. 3G speeds were way faster than vodafone. I had to pay a 100 euro deposit cause I've just finished as a student so have to wait 6 months to switch back.

i only switched from o2 meself, ive been on vodafone before about 3 years ago and always had good 3g i would have thought it could only improve,im now stuck in an 18 month contract with a 2 gig monthly download allowance,at this rate i would be lucky to reach 2 gigs by the end of the contract,i also had to pay the E100 up front

Same for here lads. Sometimes it's very slow, unusable. Then a while later it's fast again.

Any idea what these settings are that they sent to your sim card?
Having terrible problems with vodafone 3g downloads myself. Its ok in the morning but grinds to a halt as the day progresses

No idea what they were, just said I didn't have all the settings,I'm not sure if the improvement even had anything to do with the settings as it wasn't till the following day that there was any difference.from my horrible experience with 3 mobile broadband I find complaining about speeds results in better speeds, everytime I complained to them it got faster, they must be able to boost it in some way

Dint you mean wait 18 months? You can switch price plans after 6 months, but you're in an 18 month contract.
