    Titles Comprise:

1408: Renowned horror novelist Mike Enslin (Cusack) only believes what he can see with his own two eyes. After a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he scoffs at the concept of an afterlife. Enslin's phantom-free run of long and lonely nights is about to change forever when he checks into suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel for his latest project, "Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms." Defying the warnings of the hotel manager (Jackson), the author is the first person in years to stay in the reputedly haunted room. Another bestseller may be iminent, but like all Stephen King heroes, Enslin must go from skeptic to true believer - and ultimately survive the night.

The Stand: When a deadly man-made virus destroys 99% of the Earth's population, those left alive are haunted by visions and dreams luring them into two camps--good or evil--and eventually to a final conflict. Stephen King's apocalyptic tale of the battle between the forces of Good and Evil is ably adapted from his best selling novel.

Pet Sematary: For most families, moving is a new beginning. But for the Creeds, it could be the beginning of the end. Because they've just moved in next door to a place that children built with broken dreams, the Pet Sematary. It's a tiny patch of land that hides a mysterious Indian burial ground with the powers of resurrection. Master Of The Macabre, Stephen King, will take you and the Creeds to hell and back. (But the Creeds don't have return tickets.) Your tour guide is kindly old Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynn), the neighborhood nice guy who knows the secrets of life, but has seen enough to firmly believe that "sometimes dead is better."

The Golden Years: When aging janitor Harlan Williams is accidentally exposed to exotic chemicals in a lab explosion, he undergoes an extraordinary change. It's a process the government will do anything to learn more about - no matter who has to die in the process. Soon, Harlan, his wife Gina and the lab's beautiful security chief are on a cross-country race to evade a murderously effective federal agent. But even as he stays one step ahead of his ruthless pursuers, Harlan continues his transformation into something the world of science has never seen... or imagined!

The Langoliers: Something bizarre has happened aboard flight #29...a nightmare so chilling, so frightening, so unrelenting it could only come from the mind of Stephen King. Now the master storyteller of our time gives terror a new name in The Langoliers. A jet leaves on a red-eye flight from Los Angeles to Boston. But early in the flight, ten passangers awaken to a startling realization: All of the other passengers have vanished -- and the ground below is only...ground. But once they manage to land the plane, the situation doesn't improve. No one is there...the air is still...the clocks have stopped...and a dread, evil presence bent on their destruction is headed straight for them. Based on the novella from the best-selling anthology Four Past Midnight, Patricia Wettig (City Slickers II), Bronson Pincho (Beverly Hills Cop), Dean Stockwell (The Player) and David Morse (The Getaway) stare into the jaws of oblivion in this nightmare from the mind of Stephen King.

Comic book version is very nice too.

Here is the Stephen King's Illustrated Publishing Tracker also in case anyone is interested (just browse through the titles on top), I am following them all :)

Yeah, can't have it all unfortunately. I would have liked to see 'The Tommyknockers' in there... simply because I remember enjoying it when I saw it back in 93, but I imagined it's aged horribly!

I picked up 'It' a couple of years ago on DVD.

    Yep, I love 'The Mist'.

As I said in the thread dedicated to it over on the 'Film' forum last week, it's one of the finer (albeit very different) horrors of the last few years.

Doesn't hurt that it was directed by Frank Darabont who, along with Christopher Nolan, is one of the finest directors working today.

EDIT: Can pick you up a copy of this if you want whiteman.. am sure I can meet you somewhere next time you're home to give it to you.

Off topic but related to above , I saw oodles of copies of The Mist going for 2.99 each in XtraDeals at the weekend. It's an xtravision in disguise selling exrental stock etc. got a copy myself not a blemish on the disc.

Edit: Not sure where else they have these shops around the country , got mine in Drogheda.

I ordered mine at midnight last night and it was priced at €7.99.

Agree that the Mist is one of the better movies of the past couple of years. I bought my copy on DVD from Play 8 months ago for €3.99 but it was priced at €8.99 last night. Play's prices are like yo-yos.

BTW, Play are actually more expensive than HMV for new releases, e.g. Prince of Persia was €22.99 on blu ray from Play while I bought mine for €19.99 in HMV. Haven't watched it yet but its had some good reviews.

    Marked as 'Expired'.

    Play's piss-poor exchange rate doesn't help them.

One of the two I ordered was dispatched this morning.

Sort of OT but, my favourite King movie adaptations are probably Misery and The Dead Zone. Walken in The Dead Zone is fantastic, as is Martin Sheen and Cronenberg does a fantastic job directing.

It's OK, quite enjoyable but nowhere near as good as the book, the zombie cat is flippin' creepy though!

My first copy arrived today.. am expecting the second copy tomorrow.

It's refreshing to see a boxset with movies in individual slim-cases.. an opposed to the cardboard case with discs flittered all over the place.

whiteman, let me know if you're about Sligo in the next week or two. If not, I'll hopefully be going to Galway in the next month(but can't promise anything unfortunately).
