I am guessing it is 2 short in your view and it is cycling rapido.

:D sorry for the lack of info..

The boiler is located in the garage of a dormer house 3200 sq ft
i have three zones, upstairs, downstairs bedrooms and the last zone is
    the living room kitchen area

At the moment the boiler runs for about 3 mins on and off for 4.
the zones are operated by a switch.

would this kind of burn cycle be normal?

    Rathbeau,
Is one of your room thermostats Danfoss RMT230? This type of thermostat features an internal resistor which causes frequent switching as the room temperature approaches the set temperature. It can be easily over-ridden if desired.
There could well be other makes which have a similar feature.
By the way, this feature caused some problems when it was used to directly control a wood-pellet burner.

Is the boiler 150,00 BTU's? might be grossly over sized and is short cycling.
