i use avast anti virus. it's free. avg free is another popular one.

www.nod32.ie is one of the better paid ones imo.

I think the best way to avoid your computer from picking up a virus is to avoid dodgy sites and also by not downloading any warez or cracked items online, they are riddled with spyware/malware/viruses.

If you are looking for a free antivirus then I would +1 for Avast. If you want to spend your cash on one I would recommend Kaspersky

I use Avira AV Free and a combination of MBAM/Spybot S&D and Brain 2.0 ;)

Microsoft security essentials, Spybot S&D and I only frequent the more reputable porn sites ;).

Set yourself up as a restricted user as opposed to as an administrator.
Use a browser with a good ad-blocker (so you're less likely to click on something you'll regret later).
Use OpenDNS with reasonable category restrictions.
Use both MSE & common sense for antivirus.

The Firewall part (and process monitor) is absolutely top notch (if a little intrusive at first), and for power users it is more customizable and has more features than windows firewall (which it has to be said is more than adequate for the vast majority of users).

Comodo are fairly new to the antivirus game and that aspect of CIS doesn't score nearly as well in AV tests as other better free alternatives like MSSE, Avira, Avast or AVG

While I was running Comodo firewall and Avira AV and found them both excellent products, I did a fresh reinstall on an SSD a few days ago, so I am currently trying out an MS Security Essentials and Windows firewall combo. Probably won't bother with Comodo this time around (No reflection on the product itself just think it is overkill that I don't really need).

In summary if you do go with CIS just install the firewall part ( this is one of the install options), and source another anti virus.

EDIT: Good aticle here on the pros and cons of various free firewalls available:
