I am having difficulty maintaining a wireless connection with the following laptop & would appreciate some help please?

    Toshiba Satellite L505
Purchased in USA so warranty not really an option
    Operating System: Windows 7
2.2ghz Pentium Dual Core; 3GB RAM
Software: McAfee is the anti virus
Connection Problems: Eircom are service provider. Router is their standard one, ZyXel

The problem that exists is as follows:
if the laptop is not pugged in to a power source (socket) i cannot connect to the internet as the wireless doesnt work

If the laptop is plugged in it works - no issues.

it is really annoying - can somebody please help??

i've tried as suggested by duckysauce and turned off the power save feature but its hasnt fixed the problem...

this evening i unplugged the power and tried to go online.

    - the homepage opened fine.
    - i then typed something the the search engine and the connection broke and it showed me a webpage saying "internet explorer cannot display webpage" and there was a button saying "diagnose connection problem" which i duly clicked.
    - it then started troubleshooting and came back with 2 messages

    Problems Found
    - A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.....Detected
    - problem with wireless adapter or access point......Fixed

I am then prompted to close the troubleshooter to continue surfing until it knocks itself out again a few minutes later (maybe 2 minutes)

On running the troubleshooter this time I am prompted to plug in an ethernet cable...
this kinda defeats the purpose of wifi!!

Does anybody know whats going on here - its really frustrating - there is no problem using wireless when the laptop is hooked up to a power outlet!!!

    Hey,

this problem is a rising problem with the toshiba models, not to sure what is causing it but could possibly be a compatability problem with the wireless card and the router you are using, is it working grand on someone elses internet both on battery and on mains... if so you need to buy a new router!!! make sure it is compatible, ask the lads in the shop can you return it if you have the same issue or else contact toshiba ireland for help, dont matter where your warranty is from, toshiba offer a worldwide warranty so if you register it in ireland even though you bought it in USA, you are covered here!!!!
    hope i helped!!!!!

You need to go and download the latest realtek driver from there website or call Toshiba on 012481248 and they will send you the link to the new updated driver.

    This will fix your issue.

    Good luck
