    Hi

My van decided not to start today. There were no signs of any problems before this. The engine is turning but it wont fire. I have been looking around and want to rule out a few things it may be before sending it to a garage. Does anyone know the location of the fuel cutoff inertia switch on this model? I was changing the spare wheel yesterday and it was very tight in its holder. I may have jolted the van taking it off. Clutching at straws I know but need to rule it out. 2005 2.0hdi Berlingo.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have searched all over the engine bay and cannot locate that switch. In the link you posted they refer to the 1.9D. Im wondering has the location been changed in the hdi version.

This is from a 05 berlingo 2.0 hdi (bosch fuel system)
The Inertia switch is No 18 in the diagram.
Siemens fuel system dosen't seem to have a Inertia switch...

Hi Row, thanks for your help.

Its a Siemens system as far as i know, going by the fact that the inertia switch isn't there and Siemens is stamped in various places (I don't know if that's relevant to the fuel system though). The "key in ignition" alarm goes off alright. The engine is turning fine, plenty of power in the battery anyway, half a tank of fuel. Ive checked all the fuses I can and cant find any faults. I disconnected the battery for 10 mins and reconnected but no joy. If the fuel pump or injector system were to fail do you think I would have seen any evidence of it beforehand? Ill dig out the VIN and PM you. Thanks again.

@Row, do those Berlingo's / Pug Partners not have a lift pump in the tank which is prone to failing?

Yes shamwari your on the ball...:)
Lift Pump is worth checking...ignition on you should here the pump running for a few seconds...these pumps need around 2.5bar pressure to supply diesel to the hp pump.

At least this rules out an immobiliser problem.

    The mystery deepens..

I got home this evening and the van started first turn. Ill have to get a diagnostic check on it to see if there are any faults logged.

The battery is in it since i bought it in Jan. It seems fine, turns the engine very fast. Engine fires on second or third crank. There are no warning lights on. Trouble is I cant trust the van not to leave me stranded somewhere now
