Dreambox users - do you have this problem?

I was recording American football on Sky HD last night and then sat down to watch it so stared at the beginning while it was still recording. The picture quality was terrible and there was a lot of blocking\freezing. After I caught up and watched it live, it was perfect. Can the DM simply not cope with watching and recording HD at the same time?

I've a big Triax dish, top lnb and really good cable - the signal to noise ratio is well over 80% so it's not that.

What model dreambox is it? Is it a clone? What image do you have installed on it and what's the version of it? I never had this problem with the DM600 PVR but what was only SD content. You could of course try the same thing later with SD content and see if the problem occurs again in order to narow down the culprit.

*EDIT* I just saw from your other thread that it's a DM800 and a new install. Is it a clone by any chance?

Hi Carsby. Yes it's a clone - DM800HD running Dream Elite BH 1.3.

I've an internal HDD but I don't remember having this problem before - I've defenity recorded rugby in HD and started watching it while it was still recording.

I stopped the recording and the picture was perfect live. I also went back and played the recording again and it was still the same - really blocky.

hmmm, if it worked before then I'm stumped. Can you try it again with HD content and see? Maybe it was a once off i.e. the box hadn't been rebooted in a while and was low on memory/resources etc.

I was thinking that. I might shut it down tonight. Was also thinking about uninstalling add-ons - anything to free up resources!

My Dm600 sometimes glitches slightly when watching on timeshift .
The picture quality is perfect but every so often it does jerk for a split second.
It is almost certainly a resource issue .
I disabled the permanent recording on the 600,like Sky plus where it caches the last 30 minutes ,as it was making the receiver unstable;the picture was jerking like mad.

Try turning off Ethernet and recording something. I've noticed that this seems to take an unreasonable amount of resources, & can cause issues like you describe.
