Recurring Injury while Running...please help!

I've recenetly began some long-distance running and am up to about 10km distance.

About 3 weeks ago, I developed an injury on the sole of my right foot.

While running, the impact causes the sole of my foot to tighten and feel sore. The first time this happened, I was limping slightly eben when walking.

I put ice on it and took a break from training for a week.

I was grand again for about a week and then it flared up again this week.

I got about 6km into my run and the soreness returned. I had to stop and haven't ran since (this was 2 days ago).

The injury fades once I stop running but flares up again about halfway through my training.

What can I do to prevet this? Should I stick to grass although I'll need hard-surface training so I can enter 10km events?

Should I stop training for a few weeks?

Is there any prep / stretches I can do to prevent it?

Anu help would be greatly appreciated!!

    jayofeen,

Sorry to hear you're injured but unfortunately diagnosis on the internet might cause you even more problems. The best thing to do is go see a physiotherapist or doctor with sports experience and see what they recommend. please also have a look at our charter which explains what is and isn't discussed in this forum.
