    Pants or shorts?

    Facebook or bebo?

    Vincent Browne or Anne Doyle?

    Chalk or cheese?

Should I keep looking for my lucky lab coat or accept that it's gone and just buy another one?

    Maths or Physics?

    Favourite thread in C&H?

What are you studying/want to study in college?

Shorts. I only own one pair of pants, which I bought about 2 weeks ago.
    Apart from my study pants.

But yeah, I always wear shorts/ skirts/ dresses etc
    Facebook or bebo?
Facebook... I thought they closed bebo down?
    Vincent Browne or Anne Doyle?
Anne Doyle has a Turkey neck.
    Chalk or cheese?
I can't eat dairy so that knocks out delicious cheese. Chalk so...
Should I keep looking for my lucky lab coat or accept that it's gone and just buy another one?

Probably time to buy a new one... and draw pictures on it!
    Maths or Physics?
Maths. Maths is quite nice. Mmmmm.
    Favourite thread in C&H?
Probably Soundtrack to your Angst. Although it can have its bad days...
What are you studying/want to study in college?
Heading into 2nd Year Medicine in Trinners. Good ol' Medicine.
    Favourite drink?
I shall say Rocket Fuel for the purpose of this thread. Blue WKD and Double Vodka. Deliciously ****eruppery.

In terms of delishness, probably White Wine.
    Favourite foreign language?
Errr... I love Irish... but I accept that that doesn't count as a foreign language. I'm not so sure really. I'm not a big fan of languages tbh. I fucking hated French.

Wouldn't mind learning one of those really disgusting sounding ones like... Norwegian, or Icelandic or something... but I'm sure I never will.

An 18 month old boy is brought to A+E with shortness of breath. He has been coryzal for the last 2 days, and has been pyrexial for the last 18 hours, for which he has been given paracetamol.

He is normally fit and well. No previous hospital admissions, though he was in SCBU for a short while as he was born at 34 weeks gestation. No other siblings, and family history is unremarkable.

On examination, he is not cyanosed, but is using accessory muscles of respiration, and has marked intercostal indrawing in particular. He has bilateral expiratory wheeze, though air entry is markedly reduced on both sides. there are no audible crepitations. Heart sounds and peripheral pulses are normal, and he's not oedematous. Sao2 87% on air, goes up to 92% on 2L O2. Pulse 180. Resp rate 55. Capillary refill 1 second centrally. Temp 38.8C.

    What is your differential diagnosis?
What kinds of phamaceutical agents might help this child?
What would you "label" this child's condition as, when he's recovered?

Any pets? And of course the obligatory 'cats or dogs' question.

Hi Lemur. I'm not 100% positive, but I decided it doesn't matter. I met that patient once. He has prepatellar bursitis 'cos he's a young manslut. That's what's going to kill him.

    :D

Anyway, any posters on your bedroom walls? If so, what of?
Nope! There used to be loads, but I redecorated my room a few months ago and now everything's just... grey and... grey. I do have some framed pictures though. My friend did charcoal/ pencil sketches of Delorentos and Russell Lissack (from Bloc Party.. I had a thing back in the day?) for me. They're... almost posters. Except not. But they could be.

What's the best concert you've ever been at?
I'm not actually sure. Everytime I go to a gig I claim it's better than any other gig I've ever been at, so... well, that's awfully flawed.

One I have fantastic memories from is MGMT in the Ambassador, about 2 years ago, just because I went with 2 really awesome friends. The Antlers were crazy good, but maybe that's because they're one of the last bands I went to see?

What was your favourite childhood toy and d you still have it? Yes! I got a Tiger teddy from Santa one year. I named him... eh.. Tiger. I <3 Tiger. He's propped up on my shelf. One of the few colorful/ vaguely personal touches in my room.

Any pets? And of course the obligatory 'cats or dogs' question.
I have 2 dogs. Shadow's rayle old, and.. Laddy's relatively new. Both Border Collies. Shadow's awesome, but the new one's an absolute spastic and I hope it gets hit by a car very soon.

I've had various cats throughout the years. I'm defo a cat person.
Cats are much cooler. They just chill out and laze around and stuff, and they're minus-effort. Stupid attention-seeking dogs.

My latest cat was called Snatch. Personally I think that's the best name for a cat ever. Snatch, the pussy cat...
Snatch was killed in a horrific tail-losing accident... poor oul' Snatch.
    Jay P wrote: »

I'm pretty easy. Although I don't think the green "Go" sign captured my greatness very well.

What's your favourite Bob Dylan song?
I'm a small bit in love with him, but he's one of those chaps I tend to listen to on CD and thus couldn't really tell you the names of specific songs. But could probably make a horrific attempt at knowing all the lyrics. According to my iTunes library I've listened to I Want You the most, and Everything is Broken the... 2nd most!

What's your favourite line from The Big Lebowski?
I haven't seen it in YONKS and yonks and yonks. So I'ma go with... eh... Iunno?

    Drugs: Yay or nay?
Drugs for some, mini American flags for others.
I used to be mad against them, but the years have changed me.

I may or may not be watching The Big Lebowski....

What's the best muscle in the body?
I'm a big fan of muscles. Love them. NAWT.
Fucking muscles ruined my Summer. THERE'S SO MANY MUSCLES!! WHY!?!
I'm going to have to go for Ischiocavernosus though. Where would we be without it?

    What are your favourite words?
I love the word "inordinately". You can say that word like, over and over and it takes AGES to lose its meaning.

    Who's your favourite actor?
Errmm. This is another one of those things I always change my mind about. Can I count David Mitchell? I'm quite sure I'll always love him...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,779 ✭✭✭A Neurotic

[The ischiocavernosus muscle is a muscle just below the surface of the perineum, present in both men and women.

It helps flex the anus, and (in males) stabilize the erect penis or (in females) tense the vagina.]

    Favourite Band/Musician?
Bright Eyes, maybe. I have a few favourites.

If different from above: favourite currently active band/musician?
I'm quite sure Conor Oberst doesn't go under Bright Eyes now so it's acceptable for me to choose someone else. Mmmm, will I go with The National, perhaps?

    Favourite song?
The Antlers- Epilogue has been my tune of the year.

    Twilight: Yay or Nay?
Big nay. Only saw the first one recently. Very recently in fact...
It made me want to die inside. I won't be seeing the 2nd one I reckon.
I can see why it's popular though, I'm sure I would've half liked it when I was angsty and 14.

    Sweets or chocolate?
Big fan of reallllllllly dark chocolate. Like, 90% Cocoa and such. I shouldn't eat regular chocolate, but- big fan! So yeah. We'll go with chocolate.

    CDs or Vinyls?

    CDs, for convenience and such.

There's nothing quite like a vinyl though. My dad has a HUGE collection of some really awesome old ones, but... they're sort of just there, they don't get played much or anything.

Defo Dr. Dre. I'm not black, but I could change. I have the musicz inside me, I can feel it.
Although i wouldn't mind having a cane and getting to wear converse to work, so maybe I could be house either...

    Maybe a black, choonzy House?

    Favourite (non-alcoholic) drink?
Coffee. Strong, black and extremely bitter. (The same way I like my men, coincidentally.)

    Favourite (non-alcoholic) food?
Probably something involving Lentils. Iunno. I get really mad with food and stop eating things I once liked all the time. I had a big thing for Courgettes and the colour green in general over the Summer. I now detest courgettes.

    Favourite (non-alcoholic) C&H poster?
    Can I pick myself?

If you could elope with just one dashing young ginger, who would it be?

The one on the right. I googled good looking gingers and this was the first picture to come up. I'm horribly disturbed, but also, I haz teh chucklez.

No matter what i choose, I'd get rayle sick of it after a bit.
At the moment I'm craving cous cous and tofu. So we'll go with that.

What's your favourite time of the year?
Summer. It's good for 'splorin' than colder months.

    Are you religious?
Not even a small bit. I used to read at mass to make my Granny happy (because I <3 that woman more than anything) but I then decided I just wasn't arsed.

    Favouite quote?
I memorised loads of Oscar Wilde quotes for no apparent reason a few years ago, and as I was walking past his wee memorial in Merrion Square the other day it reignited my love for Oscar Wilde lines. Very cliche, yes, but wha' a ledge.
"It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious. "

Who is your favourite Irish poet?
    Yeats, probably.

    What is your favourite poem?
I adore Sylvia Plath. Mirror's probably my favourite of her poems, off the top of my head anyway.

What's the best piece of advice you were ever given?
My 94 year old granduncle told me last week, as I was strung out in bed the day after surgery, that if you always pretend you're 100% you'll feel 100%. I love that advice! Just pretend everything's fine, and everything will be!

    Best compliment you've ever received?
A girl I lived with last year told me I'm her favourite person last week. As you may have guessed, I don't actually store up favourite compliments/advice I just choose from recent pools.

5 things you like about yourself?
I like my choice in friends. I have some pretty amazing friends.
I like how obsessive I am. It's probably not something to be "proud" of, but I like it.
I like that I can get away with being a mad bastard most of the time.
I like that I'm great at being mediocre.
I like.... my taste in cardigans.

Languages you'd love to learn to speak?
I'm not a big language lover. I'd love to move somewhere like Sweden, Norway, Finland or Iceland for a few years though, so it'd probably be good times to pick up a bit'a their lingo

    Any fears/phobias?
I have an irrational fear of pieces of my electronic equipment falling into water. No, really. Ask A Neurotic. Whilst crossing a canal recently I wasn't freaking about falling in myself, I was freaking about my phone/ ipod/ etc meeting a watery demise.
It comes from years of loss...

    Any interest in politics?
Yes, actually. I'd be a bit of a freak like that, but I have quite a "politics family", so it's something I've always been exposed to. I'm not as up-to-date as I used to be, but I still browse politics.ie a bit more than your average person.

    Are you ticklish?
    YES! Especially my feet.

What do you do when you need cheering up?
Myself and A Neurotic recently needed cheering up and I unleashed my favourite cheering-up method on the public.
Ehhh... I like going to fancy shops and trying on fancy hats. Nothing will cheer you up more than trying on fancy hats.

    Pet peeves?
I hate a lot of things. I'm really angry and stuff. Today, so far, Two & a Half Men, Tea that isn't Lyons, the fact that Frasier's a Psychologist, not a Psychiatrist... OH GOD SO MANY EVERY DAY

    Guilty pleasures?
Taylor Swift, probably. Yeah. Defo Taylor Swift...

    Bottled water,yay or nay?
Yay. It's a big waste of money, but I still reckon it tastes nicer.

    Proudest achievements?
    Getting my course I guess...

    Best "mistake" you've ever made?
Hmmm. Tough one. If I hadn't made a mess of my original LC, I'd just have finished 1st med in UCD as I'd have had to do PreMed, as that was my original 1st preference. But I did, and I ended up in Trinity the following year. I'm in the same place in terms of when-I'll-qualify, but I'm unreal happy where I am.

    What inspires you?
    My Granny. She's deadly.

How would your friends describe you?
They'd probably describe me as being really great, awesome, amazing, fantastic...

    Do you dream in colour?
Yes. Apparently that's odd? But yeah. I also remember most of my dreams. And they also seem to involve camels quite a lot...

    Can you dance?
9 years of Irish dancing lessons. About 7 years doing "Majorettes". 4 years of Modern dance lessons. (Obvo an overlap in there somewhere) And still, no! I's probably do well in Moldova though!

    Coke or pepsi?
    Coke. Preferably Diet Coke.

    Favourite thing about Trinity?
    The... Pav?

    Favourite thing about your course?
I love so much of it. I love the people. I love the lectures. Iunno. I went through a hate phase, but I reevaluated, and decided I love it.

    Least favourite thing about Trinity?
It's hard to have a proper minger-lazy-day without feeling extremely judged. Like, a no-makeup day with unwashed hair and scruffy trackies in the middle of exams (C'mon, that's normal exam attire) and you'll genuinely wanna be swallowed up and killed./B]

Least favourite thing about your course?
The fact that "Medicine" is often associated with being a pretentious prick. I usually tell people I do Science to avoid the sickness.

    :)

Do you actually live by woods, or is your username a cold-hearted deceptive lie?
Yeah, it's a horrible lie. I like the woods though, and there are loads relatively nearby.
Except not at night, as that's when the badgers come out.

If a certain Trinners Med student were to kill a seagull by choking it with a cookie, would your outlook on life ever be the same again?
I can defo say, I'd be a much happier person for it, seeing that certain student's guilt everyday as the seagulls swooped by, seeking revenge.

On a scale of 1 to Craguls, how pretentious indie are you?
I'm not as close to Craguls as I'd like to be, but I bought a vintage monocle the other day, so I'm getting there.

What area of medicine would you like to specialise in?
Psychiatry, probably. Really interested in all'a that. Although I'm not so sure. I wouldn't mind being a GP, and there's loads of things I can see myself doing. I defo don't want to work mostly with kids though. Not a big fan of kids...

When playing Monopoly, which token/character thing do you use? I'm picturing you as the top hat for some reason.....
Big fan of the hat actually! I also like the thimble or plane though...

almostnever, some of your questions are really hard!
What television shows can you absolutely not stand?
I don't watch an awful lot of TV tbh, I could completely live without it.
I hate most of the stuff on Comedy Central. Two & a Half Men, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, etc. I also hate all soaps.

    Are you religious?
Nope, not even a little bit.

What's your favourite type of weather?
I love sunny weather, but only when I'm appropriately dressed and don't have a load of stuff to do... or lug around.. or whatevz.

    What's your best talent?
I can bend my fingers at the top without bending the middle bit. Oh yes.

    Describe your perfect day.
Hmmm. I've had a few perfect days in my time, and they all involve spending far too much time doing strange things with my friends, like... climbing mountains just so we can have a picnic and fly kites at the top >3

What do you miss most about secondary school/life at how now that you're in university/Dublin?
Very little. I don't really miss Secondary School at all, tbh. I hated everything about it when I was repeating.
In terms of life at home... Hmmm, I do miss my Mother doing my cooking and washing etc... but apart from that, very little.

    How are you with animals?
Pretty bad. Really not a big fan.

Which is the funniest word you've ever heard?
    SHAFT

Which is the funniest name you've ever heard?
A slag I know from home had a baby recently. Called her JAMELIA *most common surname ever*.

What's your least favourite quote? :P
I hate girls who cover their facebooks in Audrey Hepburn/ Marilyn Monroe quotes like...
"The body is meant to be seen, not all covered up. "-MM
Jesus Christ. YES, she could get away with showing herself off but you're a shtate, buy some tights and a big wooly jumper ffs.

Any lyrics that describe your mood perfectly right now?
    Not really. Perhaps...
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qkm80FP8Ng

What's the secret to happiness, in your opinion?
The right friends, the right playlist and something to keep you satisfactorily busy.

    Do you read much poetry?
No. I really wish I did, but, nah.

    What is your favourite dessert?
Anything with lemon. I love lemony deserts.

    Chocolate or ice cream?
    Dark, dark chocolate.

Do you believe in the supernatural?
    No.

    What is your weirdest quirk?
I have many many many weird quirks. Like my overwhelming desire to feed people. Big feeder.

What is the one food you could never give up?
I dunno really. Meh. Cucumber maybe? Big fan.

    What is/are your favourite book/books?
It always was The Bell Jar, by Plath. I think it actually may now be the Girl w/ The Dragon Tattoo trilogy...

What bands/artists are currently in your top ten?
This week- Horse Feathers, The Dodos, The Antlers, Beach House, The Beatles....among others... It changes very regularly.
Are you into cheese? Which is your favourite?
Big fan, but everytime I eat dairy I get extremely ill... so I'm off the cheese. Freakin' LOVE Feta.

    ABBA fan? If not, why?
    No...
Do I really need a reason? Too much of a wannabe indie fag mehbeh?

Really... the people. There's so many great people. And just... the...campus. It's all wonderful and amazing and fantastic.

Have you ever met anyone famous?
Eh, not really. Back in the day when I was deadleeee and showed up to gigs far too many hours in advance I met members of Kasabian and a few other bands.
I also met Carl Barat (from The Libertines/ Dirty Pretty Things) after... an MGMT concert once? He was class.
Various Irish "celebs" also. Can't really think of anyone else...

I refuse to get drawn into discussion about Lady Gaga's goddamn meat dress. IT'S A PUBLICITY STUNT, THWART IT!

Anyway. Forgive me if these have been asked already, s'bin a busy week.

    Favourite thing about medicine?

Most common belief you think is nonsense (can't say religion)?

Who doesn't dream in colour, seriously? You see in colour, you dream in colour!

A Spanish person only knows English and German fluently, and learned them both at the same time. Which language do they dream in?

Off sleep, biggest waste of money in your opinion?

Obvo the power and the chicks...
That and the fact that I find it tolerable bordering on enjoyable, whereas I hate most things.>_>

    Strangest place you've ever slept?
I'll sleep anywhere. I'm sure there's been a few very odd ones, one that springs to mind from over the Summer was spending the night sleeping in a cot. My friend had a cot in his house... I was drunk... there were no babies around or anything... it seemed like a great idea. No idea how I even got into said cot. I'm a ledge.

If you were leader/dictator of your own country, what would be the strangest law you'd pass?
I'd ban men wearing flares. GAG.

Coolest thing you've ever done accidentally?
Ah shur jaysus. These kind of questions are really hard cos I have to like.. think and stuff. Emm...
I once drank a lot of wine after taking a lot of Nurofen Plus. It was an accident, but I learnt how great codeine and alcohol go together. Good times ensued.

Most common belief you think is nonsense (can't say religion)?
The belief that iot's okay to wear leggings with a tshirt in public. IT'S NOT OKAY.

Who doesn't dream in colour, seriously? You see in colour, you dream in colour!
    Most people, apparently?

A Spanish person only knows English and German fluently, and learned them both at the same time. Which language do they dream in?
I really don't know. See I thought about it. And it's not Spanish, is it? Because he IS Spanish, but you said he only speaks English and German. So.... maybe... do people dream in a language anyway? Like, you dream in stories. ENLIGHTEN ME.

Off sleep, biggest waste of money in your opinion?
People PAYING MONEY to get on the luas. Don't they know it's free if you're a shnake? :P

Greatest lesson you've learnt from a mistake?
Errrrrmmmmm.... I really... don't know. I learnt that seagulls are greedy and can possibly die from lack of chewing if you give them a whole cookie recently. It was A Neurotic's mistake, but we all learnt a valuable lesson from it.

    ... ....

    Nao for real questions:

How would your friends describe you?
    GIANT LEGENDDDDD.

Best thing thats ever happened to you?
I got a card with €50 in it today. That's the best thing that's ever happened to me... this morning.

Do you believe in any form of afterlife?
Nope. We die and eh, that's it imo.

    Favouritest song of all time?
I change my "favourite song" very often. Some of my favourites which I still enjoy (as opposed to others which I now hate) include Arcade Fire- No Cars Go, Sufjan Stevens- Come on! Feel the Illinois! and possibly Bon Iver- Skinny Love.

    Best film you've ever seen?
Dunno. Change my mind on these loads too. I do love "Amélie".

    Best book you've ever read?
I read a LOT when given the chance. I finished an 800 page book in a day this week, it's worrying. The best books I read over the Summer were the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy. EVER? Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar, probably.

    Favourite country you've visited?
    Croatia!
There's so many places I want to visit though.

Ever thought about becoming a nun?
I've never been religious, so... that's a firm no.

Would you consider marrying a priest?
Errrr... I would not, no. What with the whole celibacy thing anyway...

    :) :pac:
    Exercise-yay or nay?
Yay! I'm trying to get fit at the moment. Well... not... right now, but, in the last few months.
Before I became bed-bound I started going for runs around Merrion Square and gyming it up in Dubland.. and over the Summer, at home, I was doing a bit'a swimming, gyming, cycling, etc
Myself and my flatmate made a pact to actually use the gym regularly in college this year. We'll see how it goes../

What's your favourite brand of make up?
I love Benefit, but it costs far too much. Max Factor and Loreal are great for foundation and Mascara, Gosh is the best for eyeliner and Bourjois is the ebst for Eyeshadows...

Where's your favourite place to shop?
    Topshop, or maybe River Island!

How do you like your coffee/tea? :)
Coffee has to be strong, bitter and preferably black or with a teeny tiny bit of milk. And tea- strong with a teeny dash of (lactose free!) milk or just black.
If I recall there was a poster of a question mark in your apartment when Liam pointed it out to me last year, Why?
    You knew where I lived!
Yeah, I'm not actually sure... because... we were... mysterious?

strangest thing you've stolen/had stolen for you?
I'm not really the queen of stealing stuff tbh...
I stole a button off a cardigan in Warehouse recently... because I bought one of said cardies and found out it was missing a button and there was no spare one. Sooo... just went in and ripped one off another cardigan. I thought that was fair tbh...

    Favourite lyric/verse of a song?
