Light, angle, expression can all make a difference to how you look in photos - as can the colour you are wearing or even the colour of the wall behind you. Get a load of pictures from different situations that you can lay out and compare.

It depends on the lens, among other things.

Often the lens of a multi-purpose camera (such as a phone cam) will distort close-up images.

A photo of you taken at 10 feet (or more) distance will usually have less distortion.

The real issue of course, is why are you worried?

    Be at peace,

    Z

I'm not being funny but do you look in the mirror? I mean if you have a wide mouth you should be aware of that by now. It's not to say a wide mouth isn't attractive. Don't forget that not many people are happy with their photos. We are our own worse critics.

As already said it may be to do with the lens on the camera. Generally the normal point and shoot cameras will also use flash and direct flash isnt always the most flattering either. Colour can have something to do with it also, i.e. I really dislike light pink in photos, I find it can cast an unflattering hue on the skin.

I dont think it really is an issue for you to worry about, I am sure if you had someone who knows what they are doing photograph you close up you will find that you look quite fine.

nah i mean i dnt exactly get much girls but that is cause im rly quiet. a lot of girls say im rly cute tho and people comment on how i look different in photos. sure you would know its me but on close ups my face looks out of proportion. and im kinda superficial mayb its bad but its jst the way i am. its how we are where im from.

All the above are good points :)

But it must be said too that confidence is what makes a pic aswell. You're talking about close-up shots. Your condifence is going to have a big effect in the out come of those shots.

Its the camera, I'm a good looking guy, but most of my closeups aren't attractive.
