Opel Corsa Clutch problem

    Hi all,

My partners car (opel corsa 2004 1.0) decided to stop working the other day. The clutch pedal goes to the floor with no resistance. I believe the system is hydraulic and the brake fluid reservoir looks full (i'm presuming this is where the clutch gets its fluid).

Anyone any idea what could be wrong?

Brake fluid is a completely different thing.

It sounds like it could be the Slave Cylinder.

I thought that too but there is no reservoir for the clutch fluid that I can see. Would there be any other symptoms for the slave cylinder?

The clutch is hydraulic on that model and yes it shares the same reservoir as the brakes. Either your clutch pressure plate has collapsed or the clutch master cylinder (at the pedal) or slave cylinder (inside the gearbox) has burst. Have a look for a leak of yellow fluid around the bottom of the gearbox or around where the pedal would be on the engine side of the bulkhead. If you cant see a leak, chances are you will have to remove the gearbox as it has a concentric slave cylinder inside the bell housing of the gearbox.
