Am I dreaming or did I read somewhere a few months ago on this forum about a December marathon in Cork or perhaps somewhere else being started ?

As far as I know ( not much) there arent any in Ireland between Dublin and Connemara. Am hoping I am wrong. Do people preparing for Spring marathons and Connemara Ultra just do their marathon training runs on their own?

There's going to be one in Clonakility in December, there's a thread in the events forum about it. :)

I think there is one in Ballyvaughan Co Clare in March?

Just had a look and Clonakility looks like a nice course.

Thinking of doing the Ultra also and have signed up for Seville in February. Looks flat and fast though, not ideal prep for the hills in Connemara but I can cover that in training.

I signed up for Clonakilty before I looked at the map. FFS its a long drive from Mayo to there two weeks before Christmas.
Really have to stay away from these boards. Cant resists signing up for marathons when I hear about them.
If Seville is not full as it appeared a while ago , then I will consider it again. Im having a go at ConneUltra too and I reckon it would make the training a bit less boring to do races at traiinng pace rather than trudging around the wet Irish roads.

Are you flying to Malaga and getting the train over?

when I've done seville, I've always flown into Jerez.

Was that from Dublin? I didn't see any direct flights to there when looking but didn't look too hard truth be told.

We're in to Malaga and then a drive. Seems short enough, about 150km and didn't do too bad on the flights with Aer Lingus last week.

Seems there's nothing direct into Seville from Dublin either.

No problems signing up last week. E20!! Shorts, T-shirt and medal.

Dont forget the free shower sized towel with marathon logo on it, and the post run food and beer.:)

There are no direct flights to anywhere nearer than Malaga. If you want to connect in Madrid , you could probably go to seville direct but you will pay over 170 euro for the priviledge. None of the cheaper airlines or even the dearer ones go to these places off season anymore.

Faro in Portugal might be another option as well since its about the same distance as Malaga and Ryanair fly there in Winter most days.
