Just out of interest, is an EIN required at the outset of a business ?

EIN is an american term, if your going to be employing people you'll need to register as an employer with the revenue for PAYE/PRSI. You may also need to register for VAT.

A trading license would be a great idea to get a .ie domain. It would cut out the amount of cowboys in the industry.

Generally you can start as a sole trader, so you need to do nothing except keep your Taxes in order.
