96 Astra - no radio lights

Picked up a 96 Astra last week for a song. Taxed and tested and running perfect. Only problem is the radio which doesn't display anything. Anyone know what the problem could be here? The radio itself works but I can't see what channel I'm on. Was wondering if it could be to simply replace the headunit?

I reackon it has faded. Cheapest would be to buy a lidl type stero, plenty more options on it too.

It may just need the bulbs on the display changed. Shine a torch on it and see if you can make out anything. If you can then it just needs to be removed and there are two small bulbs in the back of it.
