Problem with iTunes since upgrading to v.10

    Since upgrading to iTunes version 10 I cannot get iTunes to open.
    I suspect the problem relates to a conflict between QuickTime and Adobe Reader although I could be wrong. I suspect this firstly because both are missing their proper icons in the start menu. Secondly sometimes but not always when I switch off the pc a window opens titled End Now - QT Handler or something like that (I'm assuming QT refers to QuickTime).
    Thirdly, when I uninstalled all three problem programs and then reinstalled QuickTime and iTunes, iTunes ran perfectly. However when I reinstalled Adobe Reader it was back to square one!
    I have a Dell pc with Windows XP.
    I haven't got a clue what's wrong so I'd really, really appreciate any help or advice with this problem.
