I sat the Leaving Cert almost 10 years ago. In 5th or 6th year our English teacher brought in an essay someone had written in a previous LC. My teacher was/is a corrector, but I don't know if he had corrected this one himself. He said we would be hearing about this person very soon. I can't recall if we did or if I missed it, but does something happen essays that are of a particular quality? If so, what and does this happen in all subjects?

There are various prizes for full-mark answers and papers in lots of subjects.
I know as a History corrector, I was always asked were there any 'perfect score' papers.

Are these awarded automatically? I got full marks in five questions in the English exam both this year and last year and never heard anything about this...is it only if you get the full four/six hundred marks across the paper, rather than for individual questions?

I think it's whoever got the best in the country. So you'd need 100% really.

Damn, you'd think 99.5 would be good enough! :p

I never had a paper that scored full marks so I don't know what happens after you pass the candidate number on, sorry.

Some of the prizes I know are relatively small - they're more for the honour of the thing.

No reason to be jealous, it was my only A1 and I know you got a few. ;) I'm doing Law, but still toying with the idea of transferring into English Studies or English Literature and Modern Irish. :/

I'd trade one of mine for yours though. Seriously impressive getting A in English; in biology everyone's like, oh yeah, well done, what else?

Oh, good luck with that decision^:).
