Anyone know a good alloy repair place in Dublin?
Any any idea how much it would cost to fix an alloy...?

    Thanks.

Cost depends on the extent of the damage.

Collins engineering in Bray are well respected on here.

There's a small buckle in the driver side front wheel and it slowly loses air because of that. Have to keep checking the air every few days.

And there is some heavy kerb damage on a few wheels...

Do those guys mentioned above do wheel refurbs as well?

I've 2 sets of wheels that I want 1 set refurbed to look like the other so they match. There wouldn't realy be any scuffs on them that need repairing.

You should cut your losses with that puma at this stage OP!

Hit the curb the other day... A bit foolish of me... It sorta wrecked the wheel. Still drives fine but vibrates over 60kmph... So probably balancing issue. Bearings and CV joints sound fine.

And apparently I don't need any more work on that Puma.
The mechanic who fixed my clutch said all the bushes and bearings are fine and don't really need changing. And also the body is in real good nick. Barely any rust at all for a car of its age. So it was a real good buy considering how much I got it for at the time...

How about the engine and it's oil thirst?

    Its the only problem... :pac:

Though it might not be as big. If its just the rocker cover gasket leaking, thats an easy repair.

I'll do a compression test on the engine one of these days to figure out what's wrong with it... Just need someone to turn the starter key while I check the compression gauge...

I wouldn't let them near a wheel bolt on my car, let alone a wheel.

I've seen 3 sets of wheels where they've painted over wheel weight glue, which is wrong on many levels.

You think that's bad? You should have seen the set I had to re-do last week. No etch primer at all. No wonder the paint came off.

Well, they did an excellent job on my cruiser wheels and others on here have recommended them.

Sorry, just to clarify, the wheels I redid were from a completely different company.

I was onto wheeldocktor a while ago but they are busy and nuluk up in Belfast got a bit to dear. How do these dear guys rate to some of the others mentioned here, some of whom are much cheaper?

The less expensive places - circa 50 a wheel - just recondition the face, remove kerbing, scratches, flaking paint, etc. But if you want buckles rolled out, you will end up paying a little more.

The wheels are round as can be, luckily. I need them stripped of the paint and lacquer and repainted.

    These wheels

need to be made look like these
    borbet.jpg

So I can have the 7.5's up front and the 9's up the back without them looking different from each other.

    I thought it was...
    But apparently it isn't.

I told the mechanic who fixed my clutch to check all the suspension mountings and all. He said the bushes are all fine. Might need new shocks and suspension mounts but the body work is in good nick. Not much rust anywhere, it was apparently looked after pretty well. Body wise atleast.

The engine is still sluggish and has the oil problem which could be the rocker cover gasket. I'll be cleaning the throttle body + MAF tomorrow and pour an injector cleaner in the fuel tank to see if it makes the engine run any better...

But the engine seems to be its only problem.

If I win the lottery, I'll replace that dying engine with a new 1600 Sigma engine they use in Caterahms and then slap a turbo on it! :p
