FOX News - Fair & Balanced???

The motto for Fox News is Fair & Balanced.
I think it's the most incorrect and wrong motto for this news channel.
I find it to be the most partisan and slanted news channel around.

    Am I wrong?

Regularly, commentators and guests who don't ascribe to the party line /vision of the 'World According to FOX' are cut short or shouted down.

The party line is then given by the programme host so as to get everything back on the right track.

I don't see how they can continue to peddle the Fair & Balanced motto.

The 'World According to FOX' includes the following:
    • Democrats are unpatriotic
    • Barrack Obama is elitist, more a member of the elite than his predecessor who was the millionaire son of a millionaire president
    • Only Republicians can be trusted to do anything

Nope you're completely correct. The Fox News Channel is extremely biased towards the right wing with commentators such as Glenn Beck and Bill O' Reilly.

Fox is as biased towards the Republicians as MSNBC is to the Democrats.

I watch both and would say MSNBC is actually more biased to one side than FOX NEWS.

They are cable news channels not network news channels so they can have the bias if they want too.

In other news, the earth is not flat.

FOX News is a disgrace. It is worrying that so many people watch it.

CNN is just as bad, and Sky news :D

I think here our own news isn't that bad when you look at what people are watching elsewhere.

CNN ratings are in the toilet!...it's been claimed CNN is the balance between Fox and MSNBC, they try i guess.

What you have in America is a mainstream news selection which caters to different political leanings. Its no secret that Fox is right wing; nobody denies that. Personally, out of all the news stations in America, my libertarian, free-market and small government principals are best represented by Fox as the others are all generally centre-left or considerably left-wing.

I think that Fox provides, on the whole, more enlightening coverage of political and economic matters than the other, "liberal" outlets.

Fox really does have a bad name, largely because people feel it is justified to jump on the band-wagon and condemn it as a "disgrace" without ever watching the station for more than a few minutes. Also, those who typically insult Fox news never treat the unofficial democratic party media fan-club over at MSNBC with the same disrespect.

Did anyone see that "outfoxed" documentary about Fox news?

How can they say with a straight face that they're fair & balanced then.

I would not have so many concerns about the station if they were just promoting a right-wing/market view of the world. But it's scary the way they jump on people and shout people down. They degrade people. I don't think it can be good for society in the US predominantly to be subject to this.

Oh yes and the world was a better place with GWB in charge. The guy had a 25-35% range of approval ratings for the last couple of years of his presidency. Poverty and unemployment all rose during his terms as president.

I've watched the station at different times over the last couple of weeks and see the same replicated on different shows from news shows, business not so much, (but it's still there) to programmes like Huckabee.

I'm not familiar with MSNBC coverage so can't comment on that.

FOX news cannot be trusted, in fact most media are owned individuals with horrendous agenda, feeding only one side of a story and where they do cover the opposite they slant their reporting and embellish it with adjectives that belittle the opponents.

That is where the opponents are against the owners agenda.

Yeah Bill O Reilly claims he is independent but if you listen to his programme its all one sided towards the Republicans or as they say "the GOP (grand old party").He might sometimes throw in the odd praise to the democrats/Obama but thats very rare. Sean Hannity is another through and through Republican. That Laura Ingram really gets on my nerves with her "holier than dow" attitude of hers.I dont really know much about the democrats, but its definitely biased towards the reps.I find it annoying.Another thing I notice on it and its irritating is that both the host and the guest insist on speaking at the same time.Gave up watching as much.

i think you will find that fox news themselves deny they are right wing , hence thier slogan , FAIR AND BALANCED , oh and the other news networks in america are only left wing compared to fox news in the same way as alaska is only warm compared to siberia

there was a simpsons episode where they took the piss out of fox news. the ticker line at the bottom was saying stuff like "92% of democrats are gay" and the like. can't find any youtube links for it though. i think they took them all down.

Good old Shep,I like him ,he is the best presenter on Fox.

In fairness to em, I did hear anchor Monica Crowley refer to Terry Jones as a
    ''Radical Christian pastor''.

Mind you, they did kinda ignore Jones for the most part. ;)

I was surprised at their language/stance on this. I half expected them to cover the proposed burning, with a collective glee. The reporting/treatment contrasts with their coverage of the NYC Mosque controversy.

I think they proved their bias when they hired Sarah Palin, how biased can you get?
