Just wondering did anyone get their copy of MW2 from an online retailer before the release date last year? Even if it was the day before I'd be interested to hear who you bought it from? Obviously they have to ship early to match your standard store.

I ordered MW2 from The Hut and got it a day early. They shipped it on the Thursday and I got it on the Monday.
I ordered Just Cause from Amazon and it was only sent on the day it was released so I was waiting a couple of days extra for that. So dont think I will be ordering from there.

I've found it's not worth the risk, when ordering online you're never guaranteed to get it when they say you will. Be it problems on their side, or just the postage system it's being sent through. It's happened to both me and a friend on PS3 games in the last 2 years. Also when getting it posted it means someones going to either have be there to recieve it, or you'll have to collect it the next working day from the depot (the latter, defeating the purpose of ordering it in the first place). IMO you'd be better off just getting it from a local shop on the 9th. There was so much hype about MW2 and pre-ordering to secure a copy, yet I went into the local shop after work the day it came out, and they still had loads of copies, so I don't think there's anything to worry about from that point.

TS, I suggest just buying it locally on the 9th.

I dont preorder stuff online, theres enough games, gamestops, hmvs, tesco, xtravisions and other places to easily get a big game on release day, didnt preorder MW2 and just strolling in that morning and got it, my local gamestop had 1000 copies of it, wasnt selling out any time soon

I've only ever done the midnight launch thing for 2 games, Halo 3 and GTA IV, and by the time I got both of them home I played them for about 2 hours and was knackered so went to bed lol I may have just waited until the next morning and went in. Getting MW2 was my own reward to myself for getting a tooth pulled out that morning, I needed retail therapy lol.

I miss working in HMV, where I was in charge of the games section and I could just take stuff home as soon as it came in a delivery, miss getting all that free promo stuff too, and the hot Sony rep who used to call in, sigh, good times...

It could be a different situation this year because last year royal mail staff went on strike and as a result the games where sent out early to try and make it for release day.

I've heard a few people have gotten their games a day earlier from Gamesnash, they promise to deliver on the release day. Thats where Im pre-ordering from anyway
