Has anyone got their teeth filed to make more room in their mouth like instead of getting teeth removed? If so, was it sore?

Probably means interproximal stripping. And it is rarely instead of having teeth removed AFAIK. You don't gain as much space from IS as you would from extraction but one of the orthos could chime in here and correct me...

Never heard of filing teeth but looking up info on the internet now it doesn't look like the best route to go down.

Interproximal stripping is a common proceedure in combination with braces, there should be no problem so long as its done carefully and in small ammounts.

I think you mean stripping and I am presuming it is part of orthodontic treatment. If you have crowding and are getting braces then you need to make space for straighten the teeth.

If there is a lot of crowding then you will usually have extractions or expansion. For mild crowding it is sometimes better not to extract teeth as it gives too much space. the teeth can be stripped of a fraction of a millimetre of enamel. When this is done on several teeth it creates a good bit of space. It is a bit uncomfortable but not too sore and has no effect on the long term health of the teeth if done correctly.

    hope this helps
