Archos 101, iPad Killer

    Archos are just about to launch there 10" Capacitive touchscreen Android OS media tablet with full flash browser support, USB, SD card and HDMI ports starting at bargain price of 299 euros! If this device is as good as it sounds, Apple's iPad have major problems ahead!:eek:

    Specs aren't everything. Archos tablets never have great build quality and on top of that it has no real apps.

    I doubt it. There's gonna be a whole plethora of these things coming on the market soon. They'll just end up slugging it out between themselves much the same way with smartphones; there's the iPhone and all the others and it'll be the same with the iPad.

    Well, the price, USB port, user upgradable memory via dirt cheap SD cards and full flash browser support. Are major plus points! Android Apps is snapping at the heels of Apple's App supremacy! The might of Google vs the Shiney Chrome Style of Apple. FIGHT!:D

    This doesn't have Android apps. It has something called Archos Appslib which has significantly fewer apps than the Android or Apple app stores.

    I always feel a bit sorry for Archos. They knock out some high speck products but are always in the shadow of Apple.

    Suppose Apple really have is software plus great marketing.:)

    My Archos AV420 was terrible.. it wasn't cheap (got it as a Christmas present) and it gave up the ghost just outside of warranty.

    Have heard plenty of similar problems with Archos products.

    I'll avoid!

    I've had one of those since it was brand new about 7 years ago. Its been bashed and bruised over the years and still works perfectly. Has been one of the best things I ever bought.

    well think about the amount of iPod and iPhone killers that have sunk apple before. Almost 10 years on and nothing has even come close to Apple mp3 player market share.

    There is more to market dominance than specs etc ..... think about Budweiser, what % of the beer market does it have in the western world and it's pure piss?
