IM Austria warmup race suggestions?

    Hey Folks,

I'm working on butchering one of mr. finks training plans to account for my lack of cycling skills, and I liked the inclusion of a few races as part of the plan. Would be cool to do a dry run of packing everything and moving it by plane and rebuilding at the other side too.

I was wondering has anyone that's done austria worked in a HIM try-out race? The best I've come up with is that new 70.3 in mallorca in mid may (about 7 weeks out from austria), but its probably too close to austria for my liking (and being a branded race probably a bit more expensive). I always take a bit longer to bounce back from a race, so was hoping to find something in late April to do before hitting the final block of training.

    Cheers :)

Oh, yes, I asked a similar question last year when I was looking for an early season HIM race.. hopefully some things have changed (Bala in wales was where I landed as a result in mid June), or someone more experienced can comment on the usefulness of a HIM as part of IM training.

Check this one out. I was registered for it in 2008 when i did Austria.

I had to withdraw but a few of my buddies did it and its an excellent course on closed roads. Pretty much flat too.

    Bala is a tough one.

Sperrin HIM ticked the box this year for IM prep.
